First of all, let's just say I was kind of new to piercings before this experience. All I had done were my first and second holes in my ears and my cartilidge. I had never really been into tongue piercings but my friend told me to go to BME and look at the piercings. I did and I got hooked. First I started looking at navel piercings because I had always wanted mine done but my mom wouldn't let me :(

Then I started looking at tongue piercings and I started to like them. After a while of admiring them I decided I wanted to get my tongue pierced. Of course I would have to go behind my parents back, seeing how they wouldn't even let me get my belly button pierced. So I saved my money for a couple weeks and finally I had enough to get pierced. My friend decided she wanted her tongue pierced too, so we left her house and needed to stop at the mall to exchange some American money for Canadian. Then we stopped for lunch and headed to Heads, which was about an hour's walk from the mall (we're only 15).

After walking for about half an hour we decided to stop and wait for a bus to drive by. We waited, and 10 minutes later one came by. We were at Heads in 5 minutes, walked in and told the guy there we wanted to get our tongues pierced. We had called beforehand and were told that we had to be 16 to get pierced. So we lied about our age. Then we found out we had to be 18 (what the hell?) and left. I didn't really like it in there anyways. It had a weird smell to it and there was a weird fog (kind of like 50 smokers were sitting in the room). So we called my friend's cousin and asked her to pick us up. We asked her if she would take us to Clifton Hill (Niagara Falls) to get pierced. She said sure and we were off. (Right now would be a good time to mention that her 19 year old boyfriend was with us so we wouldn't have a problem being pierced).

We got there and walked into Generation. It was kind of busy but after about 5 minutes someone came up to us and asked if they could help us. My friend's cousin wouldn't let her get her tongue pierced, so it was all me. I didn't like that idea. I told the piercer guy I wanted my belly button pierced instead and he showed me the jewellery. I picked a boring silver CBR (I didn't have enough money for anything else).

The piercer-guy went into the back room to get set up and a couple minutes later he came back and told me he was ready. I went back, sat it the dentist-like chair and waited. He marked where he would be piercing, and I approved. Then he clamped it (which was pretty uncomfortable) and told me to breath. I guess I kinda forgot to do that. Then I felt a sharp pain and looked down. The needle was through. That was pretty much all I felt throughout the ordeal. Being the wimp I am, I thought it would hurt more than that. He put the jewellery in and I was all set. I got the aftercare sheet and then my friend decided to get her lip pierced. She paid for the piercing and we went back into the room. She wanted to hold my hand so she could squeeze it if it got too painful. That's another story but let's just say I will never get my lip pierced (she went white). Ouch.

We left Generation and went to Boston Pizza. Then we walked around Clifton Hill for a bit. We went back to my friend's house and about two weeks later I decided I wanted my nose pierced. My mom found out about that (obviously) and then I told her about my belly button. She made me take out my nose stud but I told her I would only do that if she let me keep my belly button ring in. So...I've had my belly button pierced for over 2 months now and it's looking pretty good. I know it's kind of mainstream, because everyone has it done but my friend's cousin drove us all the way to Niagara Falls and I had to get something done. So here I am.

I love having it pierced because it's cute and it didn't hurt that much...and mine healed pretty quickly compared to some of my friends. (One of my friends has had hers done for almost 7 months and she has a big nasty red scar that goes from the top hole to the bottom hole). To anyone who doesn't have their belly button pierced (there probably aren't many people who don't have it pierced) go for it. It's kinda cute and it gives you something to play with while you're bored. I made mine a memorable experience because I was with my best friend, Cara :)
