I wanted to get my navel done because I like to work with my body, shapes, curves and make some of those stand out. Not because everyone has it.I show off my belly and thought a belly piercing would be a fun way to draw attention on my belly.
At A Glance Author Poiselmo Contact Poiselmo@bme.anon When A year ago Artist dont remember Studio bodycult Location amsterdam I was 17 though you have to be 18 to get pierced, but you can also get one with one of your parent's permission. I asked my mom's permission, but I already knew she'd be ok with it.I told her why I wanted it and that it was a responsibility that I was gonna take. She gave me permission. and it would be my christmas present. I wanted to do it December 1st so I could keep track of the healing period quite easily.
December 1st came!!.I was so excited and shaking. I picked up a friend of mine, that was gonna come with for mental support. We went to have lunch first cause I was feeling way nervous, I thought it might be better to get a snack so I could relax a bit and calm down.
It was time to go, this was it! I decided to go to this piercing studio cause it was the only one I knew, dumb I know. She was making jokes about her wanting to see me suffer, thanks! Then I thought hey, I want it done. Why would a second of pain stop me?
I told the guy behind the counter that I wanted to get my navel done. I pulled up my shirt to show him my navel. He said it was ok and handed me the forms to fill in.( the words were written very shaky) Like I said, I was 17 and you gotta be 18.He took the form and went with it to one of the piercers. The piercer said he would not do anything without a parent's permission. I was told to call my parents. We called my mom and she gave the permission. ( I thought it was weird that I did not have to show ID, but I was way too happy to get it done)
We were told to go downstairs with the filled in form and wait. There was nobody there except the lady that was in the actual piercing room. She came out and had a huge smile on her face. I imagined she was happy but at the same time I was REALLY shaking knowing it was my turn.
I went in.It looked and smelled very clean. The piercer looked at my filled in form and washed his hands. He said he would put in a 14 gauge ring, cause you can turn those around when cleaning and it would heal better.I was mad cause I thought I could choose a nice one but I thought hey he knows better. I lifted my shirt up and he cleaned my belly. I was told to lay down while he got his stuff ready. He was not wearing gloves, which gave me a uncomfortable feeling but I did not ask about it (dumb again). He told me to relax and concentrate on my breathing. He put the clamps on and told me I was doing great. The clamps did not hurt at all, I hardly felt it. Then suddenly I felt the needle.I started cursing, but it was cause of shock. To be honest, it did not hurt. It feels like a burning sensation. The second you feel it, its already over.He put the ring in without problems. I was so proud of myself and happy, I did not care that it was a ring anymore. I thought hey, I can change i t later on when it's healed. He gave me after care instructions and we went home.
I had no pain but the redness would not fade. I did lots of research and decided that shop I got it done was not good. (clean but no knowledge)I went to another, this time, professional shop and they helped me out wonderfully. They changed my ring into a barbell ( that way it would not get irritated by tearing) just gave me good information and it healed very quickly in about 5 months time. I think I was lucky that guy did not mess up my piercing, I took very well care of it and it looks awesome now.
If you wanna get pierced: GET INFORMED, piercings are wonderful if done professionally. Find out if a piercing is right for your anatomy, check out different shops, get as much information as you can and take care of it. It's a deep wound in your body!Do not let ( little)pain stop you, for me, ear lobes hurt worse but that's different for everyone. People that say you're nuts , you're gonna tear it out don't know what they are talking about. If someone pulls your earring they can rip your ear off... I hope that gives you something to think about.
