One day I was talking to my parents about piercings. From the piercings I wanted done (eyebrow, lip, labret) my dad said, "Why don't you get something normal like a nose ring." Right when he said that my eyes lit up. I was so amazed by this. I then asked my mom about it and almost immediately she said plainly put: no. Then, since I realized that she's never going to let me get anything on my face pierced, I asked her if I could get my navel done and I had to do a lot of stuff for that. She actually made me write her an essay on why I wanted it done! I did. She thought I wouldn't (showed her wrong). So that same day, she let me get it done!

The next couple of hours we spent looking for places that would do it. We found a place and they said they'd do it for $20. So we hung up and were like, "This is the place." My mom was unsure about the whole age thing so we called them back up and asked about how old I had to be to get it done. Eighteen or older. Kind of gave my hopes up. We called around some more and finally found a place. Dancing Dragon. They were able to do if I had my parents with me and a notary. I was so excited/nervous at the same time. I had no clue what I was getting myself into. So, we went in the car and off we go.

Once we got to Dancing Dragon, the people working there were very friendly. I started to shake a little know that I'm actually going to get my first major piercing. We walked in front of the counter and handed us the paperwork and asked us to fill it out. He seemed very friendly and nice. My mom and I filled out the paper work and then waited for the piercer to get the room set up. I looked in there and saw everything that he was going to use in sealed up plastic bags. I saw the banana bar, the needle, and gloves. The room looked really clean. But, now I was feeling the butterflies. I had no clue if it was going to hurt or not.

I was the called into the room and was asked to lift my shirt up a little so he can mark where the needle was going to go through. He first put on a fresh new pair of gloves and took the pen out and marked. He asked me if that was where I wanted it done, and I said, "Yes." I didn't really look though. I just assumed that it was in the right place. By now I was shaking a lot just thinking about a needle piercing though me. He asked me to lie down on the chair and proceeded to my belly button.

I can't remember every detail on what he was doing, though. I was too busy thinking about that needle. I felt the forceps clamping the top of my belly button and it hurt. Not like an, 'OH GOD' hurt. But like a 'just breath' hurt. He told me to look up at the ceiling and take a deep breath. I looked straight up at the ceiling. Then, he said to count back from three and that's when the put the needle through. It was a little slow when going through. It did hurt; I'm not going to lie. But, the pain was manageable. My ears hurt more than that did. It only took about a minute to finish everything. I quickly got up but he was like, "Wait, wait! I have to put the ball on!" I felt a bit dumb after that. But it was my first actual piercing so I had no clue what to do and stuff. I was just so excited.

Once that was over, he took me outside the room and told me how to clean the area and stressed over and over again to use Liquid Dial Antibacterial Soap twice a day. He gave me a sheet of paper that had the healing procedures and told me read them carefully. Then, he told me to call if I had any questions, or if something was happening to my navel.

Throughout the day, there was a little blood around my navel but nothing extreme. We went to Target and bought the soap. I kept going in and out of the bathroom looking at my belly button. It looked a bit gruesome, though with the blood around it... but not so bad. The next day, it was fine. It hurt a little but soon the pain went away throughout the week.

I've had it for about two months now and it's healing great. I've had occasional 'difficulties' with it. I could have sworn it almost got infected once, but now everything's fine. Just remember to wash it twice a day with antibacterial soap. If you want to get yours pierced, go for it and remember to take good care of it. It is a really beautiful and sexy (if I might add) piercing to get. If you have any questions or whatever, feel free to email me.
