It all started in June of 2000 I decided I wanted my navel pierced! So I asked my mom and she said no. So, I went to piercing it myself (BAD IDEA). When she saw it after I did it she asked me to take it out and said I could get it done. It took me a little under 2 years to muster up the courage to get it done (plus convince my STRICT father!)

When I asked my mom to bring me she said ok. We decided to go to Maine Tattoo because we know almost everyone who works there. Also I had about 20 friends who have gotten pierced there. They have gotten from eyebrows to nipples, and everything in between done. So I trusted George. I waited and waited for about 2 weeks. Then on February 20th, 2002 she asked me to run to Bangor with her. So I said Sure, To get to Bangor we had to pass the piercing studio. I was looking across the street; not wanting to make myself sad by not being able to get myself pierced. Then she pulled into the parking lot. I was so excited I almost peed myself! I jumped out of the car and my mom was like who said we are here for you?! I was like "I said".
When we went in there was so many people there it intimidated me. My mom was like are you sure you want this? I was like OF COURSE! So we talked to the man at the desk and he gave us papers to fill out. The usual "You won't hold us responsible for any piercing problems." My mom signed them, reluctantly. Then handed over the $23 for my piercing ($15) and some LMP (Love My Piercing) spray.. They told us to come back in 20 minuets. We went for a walk to try and calm my nerves; I am a chicken when it comes to needles. When I got back they were ready for me.. (EEEK) I was so nervous I could barley stand. My friends had told me that it would hurt SOO badly!!
They asked me if I wanted a black or a silver ball. I said Black. Then they had me sit in a "dentist's chair" or so it looked like, propping myself up. They asked me to stuff my shirt into my bra and then they cleaned my belly button out with iodine, That later left a yellow mark. He dotted the top and bottom. He showed me the clean needle and Clamps (I don't know what to call them). He clamped my belly, right over the dots and told me that he was going to do it in a few seconds. I took my mom's hand I prepared to squeeze! I waited and waited and said out loud, is it done yet?
My mom was shocked. Her daughter who flipped getting shots had gotten a 16-gauge needle shoved through her skin and didn't even flinch! George the tattoo artist laughed.. Then said it was done.. I was so shocked! He put the ring and ball in and clamped it shut. Then asked me if I was ok, Like it hurt! Then told me all the aftercare instructions. I was so happy I got it done that I didn't want to hear it. The only thing I realized I would have trouble with was the belt rule. When I got to leave I was so excited to get home and show it off. A lot of my friends were amazed that I actually had the courage to get it done and it was very pleasing to be able to look down and see it. I had a hard time to remember to clean it 3 times a day, But I managed (you would be amazed how hard it is to clean inside your belly button).
When I got home I showed it off and yelled at my friends for saying it would hurt. I can tell you that it won't hurt at all! As I said before I am a chicken when it comes to needles and I had no problem with it! It didn't even feel like a pinch. So everyone who is worrying himself or herself to death has nothing to worry about! You won't feel a thing! I waited so long for nothing!
Now, a year later my piercing was healed lovely. I had a playboy bunny in it. One of my friends that came up from NY was tickling me and accidentally ripped it out! I was in so much pain! I mean I was mad, I had it for a year and he was so careless. I managed to get it healed back so I looks like I have a belly button and George said I could get it pierced again soon! I am extremely happy. I'll post my results!
