I had wanted a piercing for a while. I already had both of my earlobes pierced and the cartilage on my right ear. I didn't want anything too extreme because I didn't really think most of them would work for me. Then one day at school, one of my friends told me that her aunt was teaching her to be a professional body piercer. She showed us her belly button piercing and then I realized that's what I wanted. I asked my parents and they immediately said yes and they offered to pay for it all! Just kidding. My dad didn't have a problem with it. My mom on the other hand (who just happened to be the parent that I fought with more) said that I had to wait for a week to see if I still really wanted it. But me being the persuasive one talked her into waiting only three more days. Yay! That also gave me a couple days to find a good place that would pierce a thirteen year old. When I finally found one I decided that I probably should look for some aftercare information. I was so happy w hen I found this website. It helped me calm my nerves.

When the day finally came to get it pierced I had to go to the orthodontist (just a check up) and I saw my friend, Chris, there. He wanted to come to "hear me scream" and my mom let him. As we drove up to the building, I was very calm. Chris kept on making comments like " I'm going to laugh my head off when you scream!" I just ignored him.

There were pictures of tattoos all over the walls and there was a glass case in the middle of the small waiting room that held several different kinds of body jewels. I really wanted a barbell, but my mom said that they were too expensive and made me get a ring. The ring that I chose was a mix of green pink and yellow that changed throughout the ring. It had a silver bead. After a while a girl with long black hair came out and gave my mom and me some paper work, which we filled out. In another room I heard the sound of someone getting a tattoo. That sent chills up my spine. I started to get really nervous. When the girl came out again she escorted us to another small room and had me sit down on a dentist like chair. She then explained the aftercare and what to do and what not to do. Next, she marked where I wanted it pierced. It took a couple of tried, but finally she got it. She told me to tuck my shirt in my bra and to wait while she got the peircer. By this time my mom w as getting very impatient. I glanced at Chris he had an "I can't believe she's going through with this" look.

When the piercer walked through the wood door, I couldn't believe my eyes. The guy looked like an ex biker! He had four ear piercings in his right ear only and as they went up the bigger gauges they got. His gray hair was tied back into a low ponytail and he as well as the girl had their tongues pierced. I thought: "This guy is going to make this experience as painful as possible." I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG! He was so cool! He kept on making jokes and was goofing around. I think my mom liked him too.

He got everything ready and checked the markings that the girl made just to make sure they were correct. Then he adjusted the chair I was sitting in so that my head was just a little bit farther down than my legs. Next, he clamped me. For those of you who doesn't know what a clamp looks like, the handle looks like scissors but the bottoms looks like barbeque thongs except there flat and square with the middle cut out so the needle can be stuck through. A lot of people say that the clamps hurt more than the actual piercing. In my opinion that couldn't be more incorrect. The clamps just feel like a little pinch and it helps numb the area to the piercing won't hurt as much. Then he said "OK. Take a deep breath and on three I'll put the needle in." So I took a long SLOW breath and he stuck the needle in. OK I am the wimpiest wimp in the world trust me. It took and hour and half just to get my cartilage pierced so this next part is for wimps like me.

I didn't feel the needle go in but I felt it go out. It felt pretty painful but nothing that anyone especially me couldn't handle I had my hand over my eyes and I was pushing on my eyes so hard that I saw a bunch of colored dots. After the needle went through he told me that he was going to put the ring in. That didn't hurt as much but it still hurt. When he was all done he made me still lay down so I wouldn't faint or anything. Then he once again explained the aftercare. As I got in the car I didn't feel any pain at all. But I did later. It was sore for a while and all I had to do was apply the solution that they gave me and do a couple sea salt soaks and it has turned out to be great. So if u have any questions I check my email every day so you can email me. Please if you email me put the word piercing in the title because I get a lot of junk mail. Thanks.Laterz
