I've wanted my navel pierced for about a year and a half now. I ask my mom if I could get it done last year when I was 13 and she said no. What a suprise. So I went to the dreaded Claire's on Feb. 15, 2002 to get my ear pierced again. I already had had my 1st and 2nd holes done there and they were fine so I decided to get the center of my left ear done. Bad bad mistake. I ended up being allergic to the stud they put in so I had to take it out. I got an infection and now I've got a nasty red lump on my ear. So my mom and I were talking one day and she said I should have gotten my navel pierced instead of my ear. I didn't really think she was serious so I asked her if I could and she said I had to be older. Great.

I ended up getting a high B- a 92%- during mid term so my mom said I could get it done. All I had to do was find a good piercer. At first I was going to go to this place called Squirelly's Skin Art in a town nearby but I went to Studio 13 in Clarion, PA. I figured that it was pretty clean- they had an Autoclave and they guy who did it said he was a nurse and worked in a hosptial. He also said he was going to go back for his Master's degree in nursing so he knew what he was doing. The cute guy at the front desk- I think he was an appretice- said his girlfriend and it done and it didn't hurt. And there was another girl who said she had hers and she also had braces like me and said that they hurt worse. I was ready for the pain but it never did come.
I walked in and told the guy at the front desk what I wanted and he asked to see my navel. He said it was a little small but they'd do it. My mom filled out the papers and I was ready. We went back into a small room and they guy who was going to do it- I forget his name- set up everything. They only thing he didn't do was change his gloves after he set up. But he marked it and didn't ask me if it was ok but I guess he knew what he was doing. He put the clamps on, which I didn't even feel. The needle went through and I didn't even know it did because it didn't hurt at all. He put in the ring and closed it with the captive bead and I was good to go. I looked at it and I loved it instantly. I had a navel ring! Oh yeah...I forgot to say he cleaned me and everything and lubricated the needle. Some people say that they can tell the needle is going through but I didn't even feel it. I have a pretty high pain tolernce but it didn't hurt. The only thing is that the they only had a St ainless Steel CBR ring with a hematite bead. I want a pink one but I'll live with the black one for now. I'm going back to get a barbell in 6 weeks.
They guy gave me an aftercare sheet and told me to wash it 4 times a day with Dial soap. My mom paid the $35 and we went down to CVS to get some Dial. I had it pierced last night and everything seems to be okay, but I think it's a little deep and off center but I've got a really really little navel. It's not very sore and I slept on my stomach last night because I usually do and it was ok. I would recommend it for anyone. I love it and it doesn't get knocked around alot. Just make sure you keep it really clean and do salt soaks. I love my navel ring. It was a really a postive experince so I want to get my right nostril pierced sometime. It doesn't even hurt and it is so cute. Go for it! I would probably recommend that you get a ring because they are easier to clean the piercing with soap and they let the fluid drain. I'm planning on chaning my CBR after it heals. And make sure you don't let your gym teachers see it. They'll make you take it out and you might not be able to g et it back in. If I get tired of my ring I can take it out and it'll close up. I've got one question- maybe someone can help me- my navel ring seems like it's in pretty deep and I've got a small navel but it still seems deep. I've got a 3/8" CBR ring and not a whole lot is sticking out. Is this normal? So anyways...I would get this done again and it's great! Good luck!
