It seems like today every girl (and guy) is getting their navel pierced. Practically all my friends have them and celebrities have them too. So about two years ago I wanted mine done but my parents wouldnt allow it. I begged, I pleaded, I tried to make deals, but they still said no. I wanted it so bad. I had even tried without them. I went to a piercing salon in the summer with my cousin (who has hers' done) and tried but that didnt work. So then I had tried on my own. I was sitting there, listening to Linkin Park* and praying it wouldnt hurt...But it did!! I did it so slow that I could hear the ripping sounds of my flesh from the pointed needle. Uuughh. Gross!

I had to stop right there. So from that moment on, I knew I had to get my parents to let me. I researched on it, and I made a big presentation on it seeing if i could get their approval. But still, no. I was really frustrated at that point because the had let my borther (who is about 18 months older than I am) get his labret pierced (your chin). It wasnt really my father who was the problem because if my mother said it was ok, then he wouldnt care.

Finally, my mother caved around February of this year (2002), so I was very happy. We decided to do it on my 15th birthday (April Fools Day!). The day before I was really happy yet really scared. Usually I am not a loser like that, but for some reason, I was petrified! The next day came and I wasnt really scared anymore so I was completely ready to go! We went to Wendy's first to eat because I was really hungry (Wendy's is my favorite!!)Then, we got to the place and I was amazed on how cool it was. Wild Orchids is a great place and I recommend it to anyone!! We met the piercer, Tammy and she asked us a bunch of questions. Then she had me pick out the type of jewelry I wanted. I chose a CBR because they are easier to clean. I also got a little jewel on it (baby blue). Then, we were ready to go back. I was standing in the room and she was washing her hands and putting gloves on. Then, she marked my navel and she had me lie down. She had me get up another two times to fix it, w hich made me kind of nervous but then I realized that she was just making sure it was perfect. She asked me if I liked it and I said yes. Then, she had me lie down for the last time while she clamped me. At this point my mother had her head turned. She couldnt bare to watch. Like it hurt her more than I.

Tammy got out the needle and was getting ready to pierce. She told me to breathe in, then out, then in, then on the last exhale she pierced. It was such a rush! It didnt hurt, it was just really wierd to have a needle going through my navel! Then, she got the jewelry and put it through, and let me tell you, that was the most uncomfortable part of it all! It was like scraping the inside of my belly. And I'll admit, it hurt! then she had me stand up and she asked me if I felt faint at all and I said no. Then she gave me aftercare instructions and a little flyer about navel piercings. We paid, then we left. It looked really cute and I loved it! It has been a few hours now and it is a little sore but otherwise it's great! I have to remember not to play with it though, which is really hard. Also, my mother who is like totally spazing about it. She wont let me touch it or I cant get up. I have to like lie down all day, and she is yelling at me to clean it every second (which by th e way, you want to avoid over-cleaning). I am also in the middle of playing softball so I have to be careful there.

Well, that's my story and I hope it helps you out. If you have any questions, you can IM me at: o0opsiwentpunk21... And I finally got my mom to say I can get my eyebrow pierced in the summer! I want that done because I dont know that many people who have it done. The navel is so common that it makes me sick (lol). So again, have fun and happy piercing! xoxo-Clair....P.S. Dont so it yourself! Its not worth it if you dont know what your doing!...Peace!!
