I first got my navel pierced at the Red Light District in Geneva, Switzerland, the day after my 18th birthday. It's supposed to be the best piercing places in geneva, and anyway the only one i knew of. My boyfriend was supposed to come with me, but he was running late after his classes, and made me wait for him for 45 min. Normally this would not have been a problem, but please understand I was pretty nervous (before this I only had my ears pierced, three in each lobe and two in the cartilage) and wanted to get it over with. So when he finally arrives I bitched him out pretty good. This at least was a slight distaction for what was about to come.

The store was crowded, and it was obvious they wanted to spend the least time possible with each client. Okay. The piercer was nice enough, and he seemed to know what he was doing. He asked me to stand up and marked the spot he was going to pierce. He pierced me quickly and relatively painlessly. But when I looked down at my freshly pierced navel, I couldn't help but think it was WAY off center. It was about two mm away from the ink dot he had himself made. He said, "oh, it's perfectly normal that it leans to one side, it won't after it's healed." But with time it seemed to me even more and more off-centered, it was impossible to ignore. I also got a nasty infection in it afterwa rds, but that was my fault because I wore a barbell which was made of some cheap metal I was obviosly allergic to. I changed it for a barbell made of titanium, cleaned it regularily (even this was almost a year after I got it done), and it got better soon.
Soon after I discovered a different piercing place called Blue Metal, run by a guy called Jacky. I showed my piercing to him and he said to me, "where the hell did you get that done?" He sold me a ring that was like a spiral, which made the fact it was off-centered seem less noticable.
Soon after, I broke up with my boyfriend and decided I needed to do something to cheer myself up. So I went to get my tongue pierced at Blue Metal. I had been a little skeptical about it, since I wondered whether he would pierce it straight. I had lost a little faith in piercers, having seen how badly the dude at Red Light had pierced my navel. But I trusted Jacky, and I was really pleased with the outcome. It was exactly how I had wanted it. I've since enlarged it to a 5 mm.
That summer I couldn't help noticing that every second girl in my hometown had gotten her navel pierced, too. I wanted mine to be different, so I soon headed to Blue Metal and he pierced it again, underneath the first one. This one was perfect. I was so happy, and I wore it proud. Jacky took a lot more time explaining to me everything I needed to know and answering my questions. He made me feel very comfortable and informed about the whole thing.
Soon after the desire struck again and he pierced the sides of my navel, too. Piercing the bottom or the sides of your navel is nothing like piercing the top, at least for me. It hurts a LOT more. It bled quite a bit too. The first piercing looked ridiculous next to the three others which were perfect, and I decided to take it out. The wound healed immediately, that same night I tried to put in a bar and I couldn't. Two weeks afterwards Jacky re-pierced the top of my navel, and I finally had a beautiful, symmetrical navel! Even though the first piercing took about a year and a half to heal, all the others were all better in just a few weeks. It took a long time, but it's all good now. I've collected tons of body jewlery and I change them all the time. I would never go back to the Red Light District, but I've since happily let Jacky pierce my tragus, the back of my neck, my lip, and my finger. For me he is the best piercer in geneva, I would absolutely recommend him to anyone in geneva or even near geneva who wants to get pierced.
