Its my birthday today, I turned 16. I have wanted a piercing for a few years now, and i decided that today was the day. I recruited my two best friends, ben and andie, to come with me. andie offered to pay for my piercing as a combined birthday and Christmas present. I really want my labret done, but seeing as i am a piercings virgin, I decided to ease my way in with a navel piercing first. Ben was also getting his tongue pierced at the same time, which would be my Xmas present to him.

Andie's sister knew the piercer though, and had gotten her navel pierced with him also. She said that he was really good and I would be fine. I chose to believe her!I arrived at andies house and we waited for ben. as soon as he came we all jumped in the car with andies sister who is a 17 as the driver. that was prolly the scariest part of the whole piercing ordeal, as she isnt the best driver in the world. i think i was lucky to make it to the piercing place!
we were a little nervous about bens piercing, we werent sure if he would be able to get his done seeing as hes 17. it turned out to be fine though.
as soon as i walked in the shop i felt better. it was clean and gary immediately put my nerves at ease. he had two rules, "if you faint i have the right to pierce anything on your body while youre out" and "if you dont close your eyes, ill close mine."he asked us to fill in some forms, and took me in the back to put some numbing cream on my bellybutton. while that was working its magic, it was bens turn to get his tongue pierced. he very nervously followed gary out the back while i waited outside.
after what seemed like forever to me in my very nervous state, ben emerged with a big grin on his face with a glass of ice water.
he couldnt speak very well but it was finally my turn.i went out the back and lay on the bed, which looked like a dentist chair. andies sister came with me to hold my hand and chat away to gary (theyre good friends). gary explained to me eveything that was going to happen and how he sterlised his equipment.
he marked the points on my bellybutton and asked me if i was happy with them. they looked fine to me, and i said so. i was really nervous after that. gary told me to lay down on the bed and tuck my shirt into the bottom of my bra, which i did shakily.
he reassured me again and clamped my bellybutton, taking awhile to get it in the right place. he then told me to get ready, as i squeezed andies sisters hand. he told me to close my eyes, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out, and he pushed to needle through.
i waited for the pain. it didnt come. i said "is that it?" because it didnt hurt AT ALL. i felt some pressure and thats it. i didnt believe andie when she told me it didnt hurt, but it really didnt. i attribute a lot of that to gary, as hes done over 4000 piercings and really makes you feel secure.
gary said "now lets see if youre going to be like andie and not bleed at all, and be different" luckily for me, i proved him right! no blood. i was so thrilled. i couldnt stop grinning.
gary had me sit up slowly and put some ointment on it. he talked to me for awhile about aftercare and then i was free to go, until my two week checkup.when i had a shower tonight i washed it with antibacterial soap and cleaned it thouroughly with the cleaning solution gary gave me. it feels fine and looks clean. ill see what it looks like in the next few days though!
all in all i was very impressed with my experience. it hasnt bothered me at all today, and hasnt bled either.
i think it has to do with the piercer. dont get it done unless you feel comfortable with them and the way they do things, and the look and feel of the place youre getting it done at. experience counts as well. i wouldnt hesitate going back to gary to have something else pierced. he wants me to have my nipples done next ;Dand if you have the right piercer, it really shouldnt hurt.
