It all started when I was younger. I had gotten my ears pierced, I was in my early teens. From that time on I wanted to get pierced again, but my parents wouldn't let me. They said I had to wait until I was 16, and so I did. I wasn't sure what I wanted to get pierced for the longest time, I needed something that wasn't too visable. After a few days of pondering what to get I decided on getting my navel pierced.

When it came time to sit in the chair I was calm, and I couldn't wait for the needle to pierce my skin. I'd missed that feeling. The piercer got everything situated while I was laying back in the chair. He marked where he planned on piercing me, I confirmed the placing. Then I laid back, and he put the needle against my skin. I felt a sudden adrenaline rush, he asked if I was ready. I gladly replied, yes. He counted, one, two - then suddenly I felt the needle going through my navel. He put the jewlery in, and before I knew it, he was finished. I looked down to see my new piercing, happy as could be. The piercer told me
what I needed to do to clean it, and so on and so forth.About two months later I realized one navel piercing just wasn't enough, my navel seemingly was naked with only one barbell in it. I ended up going down to the same piercing shop on the spur of the moment. It just happened that the same piercer that had pierced my navel was there. What luck, I talked to him for awhile and finally decided what I wanted my navel to look like. The first piercing was on the top lip of my navel in the center. I'd decided I wanted three piercings on the top lip. Once again, the piercer got the needle, and jewlery prepared. I sat impatiently awaiting to be pierced. What seemed like a hour (ten minutes or so) had passed and I was asked to come to the back room and sit lie down in a chair again. Just as
before the piercer marked the spots, then I confirmed the placing. He
pierced my the left side of my navel first, which I could barely even feel. Then he pierced the right side of my navel, and I felt tingling all over my body. I looked down grinning like a small child in a candy store. I got tips on how to care for my navel piercings, paid, and was on my way.I had a lot of problems with my navel piercings healing for the longest time. At first both outside navel piercings were irritated continiously because I had hit them over and over while getting dress or while sleeping. After the first inital week passed I was able to sleep on my stomach without any problems. Just when I thought I was in the clear, a few weeksafter that both of my outside piercings were getting very irritated, and looked some what infected. So I went back through the entire process of cleaning them as I did when I first had them pierced. I soaked them with salt water after I took a shower every day, in the morning and at night. Within a few days I could see improvement, so I knew I was on the right track. About a week later they had cleared up, and from that time on, everything with the out navel piercings were fine. I never had any trouble now that I think of it with my center navel piercing, it had healed within the first few days (the soreness went away.)< p> It has been many months since then. I stretched the two outer piercings from 16ga. to 14ga. The middle navel piercing has always been 14ga. I still consider my navel, "work in progress." I hope to get at least one bottom navel piercing if not a surface piercing below my navel.
If anyone you find yourself reading this now, and are considering a navel piercing, remember a few things. See where your pants fit your waist, now see where your navel is. If your pants ride on, above, or right below your navel, you may want to reconsider getting your navel pierced. That is only if you are not willing to not wear your pants in the same place, or wear something else that wouldn't rub on your navel until it had completely healed. It makes perfect sense, and yes it's logical, but many people do not think about this. I was fortunate enough to not have that problem. I wish the best of luck to anyone that is going to be pierced soon, be safe.
