Hi everyone. My name is Michelle. I'm 15 and I've had my navel pierced since I was 12.I Go to Boynton beach High school, If you don't know where that is, It's in Florida.Anyways,Im going to tell you about my piercing experience.

I thought navel rings just looked so cute. Being that I was so young I couldn't have one, Or so I thought. Summer before 6th grade, I had taken it into my own hands to pierce my navel. It was kind of a spontaneous thing, I was in my room with my sister, and we had just gotten in trouble and i was really mad because i got sent to my room, or whatever, (LoL) Anyway we were just sitting there and i said to my sister "You know what?,I want to pierce my belly button hand me that safety pen over there" Her eyes got really big and she hands me the saftypen and yells out "Are you crazy".With that said, I started pushing it threw.Painful?..YES!Anyways I took care of it by cleaning it with neosporin.Can you tell I had no clue what I was doing? I think so! OK well I had an earring in it for about two days before showing my brother. He went and bought me a 14 g silver hoop. He gave it to me and when he tried to put it in..there was a problem, it didn't fit so, I stuck in my earring and kept
the ring for later use. I had it for about three weeks, when my sister tells my dad its real and now fake. He didn't even care. He said just better take care of it and it was sick.haha.To make this story short, it took about 3 weeks and 4 days for it to grow out, but the time it had grown out I had an 18 g barbell in.
Well, lets just say I didn't exactly learn my lesson. I waited a year and tried again. I did it myself again and did the same exact thing with the earring stud and everything. Well, after 5 days it was badly infected. I showed my Mom and she told me if I took it out she would take me to get a new one, done by a pro! Well, weeks come and go, I belly ring, Till finally I got fed up and wanted it done. My Mom was busy that day and I wasn't very happy I didn't have it. So my dad told me he would take me. My best friend Melinda was walking down the street when we were leaving and I told her to come and she did.
We went to Solid Image. To say the least it wasn't the best place to go. But they did any age people with a parent or someone who's 18 so it worked for me. Well, I went there and told teed I wanted a navel ring. He told me to wait a few min while he sets up and we would call me to the back room in a few seconds. When I got back there he cleaned my navel and marked the spot where he was going to pierce it. I gave him the OK and he proceeded on. He then had me lay down on a big dentist chair and clamped my navel flap :). He then pierced it which only hurt for a second.Then put the ring in and told me I was done :) It wasn't bad at all!
I clean it with bactine.Since then I have changed it to a 14k gold barbell with a diamond on the bottom, which I might add cosseted a very pretty penny (near 200) Now its great,doesnt hurt or anything. -Does it hurt? Yes i wont lie it does hurt but it isnt something that u couldnt take.
-Can you you play sports?Yes,i am a varsity volleyball player at my high school,i recomment a curved barbell with a short stem and little balls on the top and bottom.
What do you use as far as aftercare goes:Bactine bactine bactine! that product does wonders let me tell you!
-Ring or bar? Honestly a good piercer will tell you to get pierced with a ring for the simple reason that is cleans easyer and reduces infection!
