Wow! I'm just admiring my beautiful 12 gauge navel ring that I just got. It's so beautiful. Anyways, there is a very interesting story to go with it. So sit down and listen up ;)!!!

I have had my navel pierced for 5 months, and it has been slowly migrating. I read the other day on QOD about how larger gauged piercings have less tendency to reject. So I got to thinking about my precious navel. I was pretty sure that it had stopped rejecting at this point, becuase it was no longer red and inflamed. Anyways, I have always thought that larger navel rings are more unique than your average 14 gauge navel.

That said, I had been begging my mom to take me to the local shop and get a larger ring. My brother had a dance Friday night, and his school is nearby in the commercial district so my mom agreed to take me. YES!!! I was so glad to be able to finally upsize, but getting there is only half the fight. I went and threw a nicer shirt on (the shirt I was wearing had taco juice on it), got my shoes on and jumped into the car. I was ready to roll!

My mom (who has one tattoo) is pretty open minded, but piercing shops are not her favorite place to be. She plans on getting another but oh well. She told me to hurry up, so I asked Pebbles (the piercer) if he thought my navel had stopped rejecting. He said it looked pretty well healed. So I got out my money and paid for a 12 gauge 1/2 inch ring. It was beautiful with a large hematite ring.

We picked up my brother and went on home. I ran to my parents bathroom and took the ring out of the bag, put it in some ear piercing clenser on it. I took out my previous ring and put it in my mom's jewelry box. I got the ring that I had just bought, and tried to take out the ring. I coudn't get it out!!! I pulled and pushed and tried everything. I took it to my mom who was finishing up some work and she couldn't get it either. I was devastated.

Being the sweetie that she is, she thought that maybe puting a marker in the ring and pushing down with it would work, and voila! It did! It popped out and rolled across the floor. I cleaned it off and got ready to put the ring in. At first I couldn't get it in, it was really stubborn. I tried to put it in from the bottom, and I could see the ring through the top hole, so I just pulled and !POP! it came through! It seriously popped, which was really strange since I've never had a piercing pop on me before.

My whole was really red (I wonder why) and I had it through so I was happy, but there was one more thing. I had to get the ball in. I went and got the ball, sat on my parent's bed and tried to get the ring in. No matter what, it would not go in. It was really annoying. So I went into my room, and got out a smaller ball that I had had in my 14 gauge ring and tried to get it in. It wouldn't even go in. I thought I was SOL. So, I went and got the smallest ball I own and tried to get it in. It went straight in, with some minor coaxing.

I slept with it in, and Saturday morning when I woke up, I went downstairs and got out my 14 gauge ring and put it through. It slid right through. Then, when I went to put my 12 gauge ring back it, it wouldnt' budge. I got out some KY and put it on, and bingo bango it slid in. It was amazingly beautiful. However, it need one thing-a diamond captive bead. I went to the mall to get it (I know, I know, never go to the mall for body jewelry) and it was so pretty. The worker made a comment about why everyone gets either a 16 gauge ring or a 12 gauge ring, but not a 14. Then he wouldn't even let me see the beads until another employee got it out for me. I picked one out and left.

Later that day, after running some more errands, my mom took me to the piercing shop again and Pebbles put the ball in. It is so pretty now, and it is just a touch red. I am so happy. If you're considering stretching your navel, go for it!!! It is totally unique and gorgeous and I just love it!!!
