Ahhh, the story of my first piercing that wasn't on my ears. A joyous event indeed. It was about a year ago when I discovered the beauty in piercings. I was admiring pictures of a friend's navel when I thought, "Hey I wanna get mine done!" so I waited for my mom to get home and ever so casually asked her if I could get my belly button pierced. "Hell no." was her reply. But I sure didn't let that stop me.

The next day, I asked a friend's mom to buy me a piercing needle and ring off a website I had been snooping around on. She agreed and did it for me, explaining that she wouldn't be responsible for what I did with it. I was like, "Oh don't worry, I know what I'm doing." Even though, in reality, I didn't have a clue.

About three weeks later I got a little brown package in the mail. When I brought the package in my mom was overly-curious to know what was in it, but I just smiled and told her it was a birthday present for Tanya. She looked a little suspicious but didn't say anything. That night I opened the little box and pulled out a 16g needle and CBR. I grabbed an old green crayola marker and marked two even dots where I would poke the needle. I breathed in, scared as hell, and pushed the needle into my flesh. I screamed as it broke the surface and then laughed because I realized it didn't even hurt. I was screaming for no reason. I pushed the needle through the rest of the way as I exhaled.

I stopped after I had the needle in and grinned. I was actually piercing my own navel. Then I slid the ring through, snapped the ball on and admired my work. "Good job, eh?" I whispered to myself. I was so proud of my piercing I could have screamed, if not for the fact that my mom was downstairs sleeping.

I went to bed that night touching my piercing, with a insane smile on my face. But when I woke up early the next morning, I was anything but happy. My navel was throbbing and was bright red with whitish goo coming out of it. I called my friend who had hers done and told her my worries. She assured me it was perfectly normal and I breathed a sigh of relief. I cleaned my belly button with some table salt and warm water, picked off the crusties, and headed off to school.

All throughout the day, I kept casually, accidentally on purpose, lifting my shirt a little bit so show off my piercing. Everyone was like "Oh my god, you got it pierced! Did it hurt? Your mom actually let you do that? You're so lucky." And needless to say, I was loving the attention. I had no regrets whatsoever about piercing my belly button myself, and it didn't even cross my mind that sooner or later I'd have to tell my mom what I'd done to myself.

That evening I made an almost fatal mistake. I was in a hurry to get out and go to a friend's house, and without thinking, walked out of my room with a bra and shorts on to go get a shirt from the dryer. I walked into the living room and immediately heard "Aubree, tell me that's not what I think it is." I looked down at my navel, then up at my mom and nearly fainted. "Uh oh." Trouble was coming.

Then my mom did something I never expected her to do. She laughed. And it wasn't a giggle or a nervous laugh, she was cracking up. "God damn, Aubree, you are crazy. You actually pierced your own belly button?" I nodded in disbelief that she wasn't beating me, and then she told me to come closer so she could look at it. Still chuckling, she looked at it and smiled. "It's kind of cute, ain't it?" I nodded again and smiled. She said "Okay, I guess you're lucky because I like it and I'm in a good mood. Just don't get anything really crazy pierced. At least without telling me first, ok?"

That was the story of my first piercing. Since last year, I've pierced both my nipples, my tongue, the bottom of my navel, numerous places on my ears, and my clit. All by myself. None have ever gotten infected, and ironically the one thing I did get professionally done, my eyebrow, did get infected. Hee hee. Honestly I do not recommend piercing things yourself, because things can go wrong, but I do have one piece of advice. Make sure you go to a reputable piercer. And remember not to walk around in a bra and shorts if you're trying to hide a piercing.
