First off, I would like to let you know, when it comes to needles, I am a total chicken. Sure I have read these other stories about people being scared of needles also, but to let you know I am dead serious Ill tell you this...when I was about 8,and had to get a shot, when the nurse asked me if I was allergic to anything, I told her stainless steel. Now how many people have you heard say they did that, and actually be telling the truth! Okay, so here's my story. It took me about 4 months (probably more) to convince my dad to let me get the piercing. He really started thinking about it when we were on vacation, and he decided he wanted to get another tattoo. Well, I told him I would make him a deal, if he let me get my belly button pierced, then I would help convince mom to let him get his tattoo! I guess it worked, because here it is!!

But I started calming down once we started filling out the paperwork. My mom, being humored by my intense fright, asked the guy that would be doing the piercing (Jeremy) if it hurt, he said it wasn't that bad. That helped me a little, knowing it wasn't THAT bad. Well, he had me go into a separate little section of the parlor, where basically nobody could see. Then he had me lay in this chair, that looked exactly like a chair from the dentist office. He cleaned my belly button a few times; I don't know what with, I wasn't looking!! Then, he had me stand up, and he marked my belly button. He had to do it a couple times because I kept squirming around. Sorry!! Then, I sat back down in the chair, and he got some stuff together. I'm guessing the needle and clamp, because I wasn't looking then either! So then he put the clamp on, he had to adjust it to make sure it was even. Some people said this was the worst part, but this didn't bother me at all. Then he told me just to close my eyes and relax. Well, I didn't close my eyes, but I did relax! I just looked at my sister and mom, who was watching, gritted my teeth, and kept breathing. Someone once told me to breathe and it will be a lot easier. I am positive they were right! Then, he did it. It wasn't bad at all. Yeah there was a really sharp pain, but after only a few seconds it was gone. I don't know what to compare it to, but if you ask me, it was an amount of pain everyone has been through before.
It has only been yesterday that I got it done, and it doesn't hurt still. I was told this to clean and take care of it: get 3 separate spray bottles, and antibacterial liquid soap.(I got soft-soap)Fill one bottle with clean water, one with soapy water(using the soft-soap in my case),and one with salt water. I didn't get the third bottle for the clean shower; I decided to use the shower. When I take a shower, I clean it with the soapy water solution, move around the ring, making sure to get the solution in the piercing, spraying several times. Then use the clean water (in my case the shower!!) and make sure to get all of the soap out of the piercing and off of it. Then I used the salt-water solution, and did the same as the soap. Making sure to move around the ring, and get in the piercing. And once again, using the clean water from my shower to clean it off. I moved around the ring a few times in the clean water also to be safe. So far all of this is working well.
The point here is the piercing did not hurt. J
I still have a lot of space to fill, so I will tell you what I heard about the jewelry. I heard, the best you can get is stainless steel. I really wouldn't know yet, but so far I agree. I didn't get to choose what ring I wanted, which is perfectly fine. But I am already looking for new ones I want to buy to change into when mine finally heals! Right now I am thinking about getting a curved barbell with a logo, and a glow captive ring. They both seem so cool to me I cant choose between them!!
Well, that is my personal story about my piercing. Not everyone has the same opinion, but that was mine!! If you are scared of the pain, you are worried over nothing. Just be sure to go to a professional, it will be so much easier and less painful! They know what they are doing!!
