~ I Finally Got It Done ~

First I'll start of by introducing myself. My name is Stefanie, and I'm fourteen years old. I live in Montreal, Canada. I went to Adrenaline, they pierce, tattoo, and they have clothes, jewelry, and pipes. The place was really clean and really good.

One day last summer my mom's friend from work had her belly button pierced, with one of the (new at the time) jeweled barbells. My mom loved it and told me about it, I didn't really get the idea to do mine though. Then some time this year I wanted to get it done, so I asked my mom, and surprisingly she said YES. The place my friends went to costed 100$, so my mom said I can get it done for my birthday, which is in July. The time went by, and everytime I saw one I couldn't wait.

Sooner or later June rolled along, and I was more excited that ever. I heard stories that you couldn't swim for a month, and I had to babysitt in July, so I would have to swim. I explained it to my mom and she said she would think about it. So last Sunday I started going on web sites and reading about the after care. I came across this web site and have been reading it everyday. My mom got the business card from her friend, and deiced to give a call. I was about to leave for one of my exams when my mom called, she told me all the things she asked the guy, and than she said... Well if you do good on your exam maybe we can go today. Well at that point I was jumping up and down, screaming, and had a permanent smile on my face. I got to school and could hardly concentrate I was so happy. (But I still think I passed)

I finished my exam, and walked home still smiling. I called her and she wanted to go tomorrow, but I knew I couldn't wait anymore. So she decided we'd go when she go home from work. I was really happy, but I had butterflies in my stomach. She got home; we ate, than left. As the car pulled out of the driveway, my teeth were chattering. At first I though I was cold, but realized it was 36 degrees Celsius outside, so I knew it was nerves. As we were coming near the place, I was so scared, I hardly wanted it done anymore. I asked my mom to drive around a bit more.

But we got there, and walked in. I was still super scared. We walked up to the counter, it was a really nice place, and clean. A guy named Len started talking to me, it told me about rings and barbells, and showed me the ones I could get... They had so many!! Len was super funny, and nice, so we picked out the ring, and he brought it to the sterilization machine, in the shop. My mom and me sat down, and filled the forms. Finally it was time to go, boy, I didn't want to. We walked in a glass room, and Len introduced me to Jennifer, my piercer. She told me some stuff than cleaned and marked my belly button. The jewelry I chose was, a silver barbell with baby blue jewels. I sat on a chair and leaned back. She clamped me and asked if I was ready. I said no than told her to do it, she did it and it hurt. But nothing like I thought, it wasn't bad at all, just something different. She said the worst part was over than I squeezed my mom's hand and she put the barbell in. I sat for a bit than got up slowly, and looked at it. I LOVED IT!! It was so pretty. I sat back down she told me how to take care of it, gave me the soap, than gave me a lollipop . Jennifer was super nice, if I ever got anything else pierced, I would go there.

I walked out of the room, and everyone in the shop asked me to see, they all said they loved it!! I was so happy and could not, what so ever stop smiling. My mom paid and we left. It stung a bit afterwards, but only for like fifteen minutes.

It has been around three and half-hours since the piercing. It still isn't red, and I can't feel it at all. It only hurts when I bend over. It's nothing. I have to clean it twice a day, with special antibacterial soap they gave me. Nothing else. I have to go see them in two weeks, to make sure everything's ok. They told me not to touch it at all; it will delay the healing time. Len and Jennifer said they'd be able to tell if I did touch it when I go back.

Here are my tips to everyone. Len said getting pierced with a barbell is just as ok with a ring. Don't get anything big until it heals, so it won't irritate the piercing. Clean it twice a day, don't use polysporon (if you do only use it like twice, or less a week) When you go swimming wash it after words. And make sure you dry it afterwards. And last but not least... DO NOT TOUCH IT AT ALL!!!! For anybody that lives around Montreal, I suggest you go to Adrenaline, it nice, clean, everything comes out of packages, and the jewelry is sterilized at the place, the people are super nice too!!

For anyone that is scared of getting it done, don't be. Just expect it to be bad, that way it won't when you get it done. Do not hold your breath while your getting it done either. I suggest you do it, two seconds of pain is worth it. My belly is so cute now; I love it and can't stop looking at it. If you got questions, e-mail me!
