I had been wanting to get my belly button pierced ever since I was about 12 and everytime I would ask my mom she would freak and so NO. Over Spring Break of 2000 when I 14 I started doing some research on it and found out how long it took it to heal and the risk. Well since I didn't see any big risk I decided to ask again and this time she said she would think about it which is usually a "yes".I was sooooo excited, but then when she came home from work that day I ask again and she said NO, I was totally upset and followed her all around the house until the would give me a good reason why I could'nt get it done. Then she finally told me that a woman from where she worked had gotten it done and it had got infected really bad (which didn't scare me). So after she told me that I sulked around for about two days. Until she finaly got tired of me sulking and told me she would reconsider. I was soo happy.So that Saturday I looked up Happy Buddahs phone # and address and I called to see what time they opened and if they took walk-in. The first time I called I got the answering machine and it said that they took walk-ins and opened at 2:00. So I told my mom what time they opened and she said it was fine but I had to go ask my dad which is the worst person ever to ask something like that but to my suprise he said "yes" I was so excited. But he told me we had to wait until 6:00 to go down there. So when 6 o'clock finally rolled around I was so nervous and it seemed like it took 4 ever to get down there.Well anywayz we found the place with no problem we walked in and Joe was doing tattoo and told us we would have to wait for his g-friend to get back and it seemed like it took her 4 ever to get there when it was really only about 10 min. When she got there me and my mom filled out some papers and she told us to have a seat while she cleaned the piercing room. By the time Joe called me back I was feelin' really sick but I calmed down after I got a look at how clean the room was it was just like a dentist office and it smelled like one 2. I sat down in the chair and he told me to tuck me shirt under my bra and roll down my shorts. After I did this he marked the spots with a purple marker and told me to take a deep breath while he clamped the clamps on. Then he told me to take another deep breath and hold it so I did. I didn't really feel it go through the bottom but when it went through the top it made a popping sound it felt so strange and b 4 I knew it, it was over! He give me the cleaning directions and sent us on our way I was soo excited. Later on that night it started hurting. The next day it was so soar i could not hardly sit down but yet everywhere we went I showed everyone my g-ma almost had a heartattack but now she totally approves of it. A few weeks after I got it i was in so much PAIN I wanted to take it out. But my friend who got hers done a few weeks b4 me talked me out of it. And now i'm glad I got it done. I have had it a year and 14 days. And I have never been happier. And now i'm working on getting my tongue pierced which is a whole different story !I really feel getting my belly pierced was the best thing that I could have ever gotten done. I was really worried that everyone would make a big scene out of it but they didn't. Now that I have mine done all my friends went and got theirs done. It is soo addicting. B/c now I want one that goes across or one on the bottom. But the next thing I will get done is my tongue and since I liked the place so much I have decided to back. If you live in Alabama close to Anniston I highly recommend you go see Joe at Happy Buddah. Oh yeah the healing process usually takes about a year to 6 months. Around about the 6th month my started bleeding and puss was coming out of it so I did some research and learned that it was a process called "LIQIUD HEALING" my friend Heathers started doing the same thing so don't freak out when it starts doing this I recommed putting a bandade over it b/c every time your shirt rubs against it it hurts like a bitch.
