Well it all started about a year ago when my sister got me thinking about getting my belly button pierced. I thought about it for a while, but then for some reason I forgot about till about 2 months ago. My sister and my friend talked me into getting it done. Well I am 14, and I asked my mom to get my belly button pierced and she said yes!!!(She was just happy I didn't want any facial piercing!! lol)

So I waited, and did some research, and read lots of experience's on BME:)and figured out how to take care of it. I talked to my friend Lisa about getting it done, and she decided she would go with me!! I was soooo happy!
So, volleyball finally got over and we were gonna go to Skin Funk and get it done after school on Friday. Her parents followed us out there because you have to have your parents signiture to get any piercing under 18. We got to Skin Funk and our parents signed the papers and Lisa, my sister Andrea, and I all picked out the jewelery we wanted. We all picked out a regular silver curved barbell just to start off with.
The guy called us back there to get it done, we were all pretty nervous, but not where we thought that we were gonna faint or anything. My sister went fist because she was scared she would back out after watching us get it done. Lisa and I both held her hand, and the guy put the dot on her, put the needle through, and then put the barbell in. She said it didnt hurt!! So I was next and I wasnt really nervous at all seeming that my wimp sister got it done. He cleaned my stomach with something and marked the dots where he would pierce. He put the clamps on, they did not hurt at all by the way, and then he put the needle through. I am totally serious when I say it did not hurt that bad at all!! It was nothing compared to what I was expecting!! It felt like a hard pinch, and nothing more than that!!! My friend Lisa was next, she laid down and put the clamps on and all that, and she said it hurt a little bit, but she wasnt expecting anything at all. I think it has to do with what you are expecting, and if you can handle pain and all. We paid the guy, $50 each, and we were out of there all happy about our cute little piercing.
It has been about a month since I got it done, and I have had NO problems at all with it. The only thing that gets annoying is if you have jeans that come up high when you sit down, it really bothers it. Usually I would just fold them in if alls I had to wear was jeans that came up high. With cleaning my belly button I wash it every morning in the shower with Dial antibacterial soap, and put Neosporin on it 2-3 times a day.All in all I would say that this was a GREAT experience, and I would recomment it to anyone thinking about it, as long as you are willing to commit to taking good care of it. The two important questions you might have:
a.)Does it hurt??
Like I say it did NOT HURT for me!! It may differ with how high your pain tolerance is, what you are expecting, and how thick your skin is and all that.
b.)What do you do to take care of it??
Well I wash it every morning in the shower with Dial antibacterial soap, and I put Neosporin on it 2 times a day, once in the morning after i get out of the shower and the second time before I go to bed. In the beggining I used to put it on 3 times a day.

Also for any athletes out there who want it done but think it would cause to much problems with sports, you defintly should get it done between seasons, giving your self a couple weeks or so. I did it that way, I now am in track (month after I got it done)and it doesnt bother me at all! I havent tryed flying across the floor, on my stomach for a volleyball yet, LOL, but I dont think it will be a problem at all!!
