Hi! My name is Danielle. I am 15 years old and I just currently had my navel pierced at Tribal Ways in Boston Massachusetts. I just want to say that Tribal Ways is an excellent piercing studio. It is the only registered piercing studio in Massachusetts. So if you live in the Massachusetts area definately go to Tribal Ways to get pierced.

I had my navel pierced on February 15, 2001. I also had my tongue pierced at Tribal Ways in October. I think the navel hurt a little more than my tongue. But that's only my opinion. I'm going to tell you about my navel experience in diary form. So here it goes.

February 19, 2001

I've been sitting in front of the computer all day. I've been on BME for a while now researching navel piercings. They look soooo cute. I definately want to get it done. I think I am responsible enough to take care of the piercing. I'm going to go ask my mom if I can get it done. I've been saving up my money and I finally have enough.

I just asked my mom. It took some convincing but she finally said yes. I'm so excited! I can't wait. She called Tribal Ways and made the appointment for tomorrow at 5:00. I can't wait until then. I'm going to go back on the computer for a little while and do some more researching.

February 20, 2001

Today is the day! I'm so happy. I've still got a few hours to kill before my piercing. I think I'll go on BME for a while.

It's time to go! I'm so happy. Mom just called Tribal Ways because she couldn't find my birth certificate. She wanted to know if it was okay if we didn't have it. They said it was okay because I had my tongue pierced there before so they knew who I was.

When I got to Tribal Ways, my mother and I were greeted by Aaron and his technical assistant. He went over all the after care with us. Then he had my mother and I sign a waiver saying that Tribal Ways is not liable and blah, blah, blah. Then I picked out my jewelry. I picked a light pink cat's eye bead for my captive ring. I didn't have a choice between a barbell and a captive ring. Aaron said they used captive rings because they were lighter and easier to clean. Next it was time to go into the piercing room. Aaron and his technical assistant washed their hands and put on gloves. Then his assistant cleaned my belly with about five different cotton balls with different solutions on them. Next Aaron had me stand straight with my arms to my sides as he marked my belly. Then he had me lie down in a hot pink dentist like chair. He also told me to roll up my shirt and tuck it in my bra. At that point I had my mother holding my hand because I was a little scared. Then Aaron clamped the web of his hand to show me that the clamp didn't hurt. But the clamp accidently fell on the floor so Aaron was just like "Um, we'll be using another clamp." It was funny and it made me loosen up a bit. Then Aaron got a new clamp and clamped my belly. The clamp didn't really hurt. It was just a little uncomfortable. Then all of a sudden I felt a quick pinch and a little uncomfortableness and it was over. I was pierced! Then I felt a burning sensation which wore off after about five seconds. Aaron said it was from the lidacaine. When it was all done. I went into the waiting room and sat down for a little while because my face was all pins and needles from breathing so heavily. Then we thanked and paid Aaron $66.50 and left. After we left my mother and I went to CVS and bought bactine, liquid ivory soap, salt, vitamin C and zinc.

It's been about two weeks since I got my navel pierced and I am very happy with the results. I keep up with my aftercare everyday which consists of warm salt water soaks, cleaning and turning in the shower with ivory soap, and putting bactine on it. I have to keep up with this aftercare everyday for the next three months so that my piercing will properly heal. If you want to get your navel pierced I say go for it. I have no regrets. But if you feel you are not responsible enough to keep up with the aftercare for three months, think it over before you get it done.

If you have any questions or comments please don't hesitate to email me. Well bye for now.
