SUPRISE! (My birthday treat) |
| ||||||||||||||||
Well..I would be one of those people who would never voluntarily have a needle shoved through my body. I like the look of belly piercings, and have done since I was 13. But I never thought I would ever get it done. I had only 2 other piercings...1 hole in each ear. Thats how much I hated pain. I was obsessed with getting my navel pierced. I was so obsessed, that I got my friends photos, scanned them, and set them as wallpaper on my computer, so that every time my Mom turned on her computer, she would see nothing but belly piercings.It was a day before my 15th birthday, and had lost all hope of my Mom letting me get it pierced. I was at Dads, and got a phonecall from my Mom, telling me that since she had to work on my birthday, she would take me out to a birthday lunch a day early. I got ready and she picked me up and we drove into town. We were walking to our lunch destination when she walked into a body piercing studio. I followed, not knowing what she was doing.
She walked up to the counter "1 navel piercing please" and looked at me with a grin on her face. I just about fell over.
I was so nervous. Even though I had wanted this for what seemed like forever, I was having second thoughts. I was shaking and felt sick. Then, I decided to do it, I couldn't not do it.
I decided to pay extra for a jeweled barbell, and I chose a baby-blue jewel.
Mark took me into the room, and started talking to me about how to clean it, change it and generally take care of it as he was getting ready. The room was so clean. He called me over and wiped my navel. He then drew a dot above my navel and told me to lie on the bed. I lay down, panicing.
He asked me if I wanted numbing stuff. What a dumb question, I thought, of course I do. He them clamped my navel, sprayed numbing stuff, and told me to concentrate on my breathing. I told him I was scared of needles and he reassured me that its just like getting your ears pierced. I hated getting my ears pierced. I don't even like pulling plasters off my legs.
Anyway, I lay there and he started to shove a needle in. My eyes were closed and I was breathing in and out extremely fast. He started pushing it in again. He then told me that I had tough skin. Then he tried again. By this time I was panicing. I just about told him not to worry about piercing me. Again and again he tried until finally the needled popped through the top of the skin.
He screwed on the ball and told me it was done. OUCH! If I had of known that it would have been this sore I wouldn't have gone through with it. It was so sore, but thats probably coz I had really tough skin. "Look at it" he said, "No, I'll probably be sick" I answered. He went and got me some water and I got up...looked at it in the mirror and fell in love with it.
It was worth the every inch of pain. I love it so much. Whenever I walk past the mirror I happen to lift up my top and look at it, just to make sure its still there. Hehehe
All up, it cost my Mom NZ$50, and that included a jeweled barbell,numbing spray, a bottle of cleaning stuff and an alcohol pad...oh, and a free drink of water!
If you ever consider getting your belly pierced, I say go for it! I have only had it pierced for 2 days and I can't think of what it was like not to have it. I still can't lie on my stomach or do sit-ups (not that I would anyway), but thats understandable. Its the best thing I have ever done and I love it so much.
I have only had it done for 2 days but i want to buy a few different barbells so I can change them every now and then. I want a spike and another jeweled barbell I think. I will not be getting a ring. Yuk! Ewww, I would be worried about it getting caught on things all the time. I have found this cool barbell that is blue instead of silver with a red jewel in it...pretty huh. Even though I have only had it in a few days, the cleaning has been pretty easy, last night I cleaned it so well that it stung a bit...so thats a good sign. I wear plasters over it in PE and tonight I'll try and slepp with it without a plaster. Brave huh.
