My First (actual) Piercing |

My Navel Piercing! After months and months of thinking, researching, surfing webpages, chatting with a local piercer and taking some opinions polls by friends, I finally decided I'd take the leap into the fascinating world of piercings!
I had been thinking about it for months, looking at my slightly pudgy tummy in my closet mirror and wondering what it would look like with a piercing dangling from my navel. I started buying slightly shorter tops that would show off my navel, imagining what it would look the day I got it pierced. I just kept the idea to myself at first, curiously surfing around the ol' might web for different experiences about getting a navel piercing. After that satisfied some of my curiosity, I decided to take it to my close friends. Asking experiences, opinions..etc. I'd hear some good stories and then I hear some bad stories..ripping piercing/redness/scabbing. But I tossed all thoughts away and just said..."I'm going!" So the week of my brother visiting from Canada, we all decided to go. It was family event :) We made a few phone calls, to the place I'd been researching since I first found it on the web. Addictions Body Piercings & Tattoos, an RN who does most of the piercings, breathing techniques, aftercare specialists...I was sold on the place! I emailed...Emily the owner and the RN of Addictions a few times asking about a dozen!!! questions about the whole process.
After feeling totally confident and positive about the experience, I called and asked about appointments....None needed really. So I planned to go on Saturday. Oh here's something I left out...My Mom was also coming with me for the same piercing, a little mother - daughter bonding :) So we headed to Salem to women bond over navel piercings, while my dad and brother went to get a new tattoo. Aren't we a great family? :) hehehe!
I step into Addictions and the blood rushes through my body..I was so nervous I actually dropped the pen and the form I needed to fill out, I was a wreak! But after looking at the jewelry, and picking the gauge I wanted I was definitely doing better. I settled on a 14 g. with a beautiful blue bead. I walked around the shop looking at all the piercing pictures from navels to nipples. By the time I walked around the shop a few times I was ready! But I had to wait about an hour maybe a little less, but I think it was good that I had to. By the time I got to go into the room, I was so excited I was almost bouncing off the walls! As I sat down on the table I looked around the room, taking in the purple walls, the psychedelic poster above me, and the cool mirror at the perfect height to see almost any piercing that had the words..."This is what cool looks like.." Scrolled across the top..which just made me relax and smile a little bigger. As I laided back I tensed up just a little bit, but after the piercer handed me a hematite stone to hold I instantly relaxed. She told me a few breathing techniques and I just relaxed ready for whatever was to come..she cleaned the area..then had me stand up to mark the spot where I'd get the new body jewelry!! I laid back down and she told me everything as she did it. The piercing itself didn't hurt..I'm serious! :) It felt like a pinch. Just an ordinary pinch. No blood-curdeling screams came from my mouth, I just let out a deep breath and she pulled the ring through and closed it. I jumped up and looked at my new piercing with the biggest smile across my face ever!! It looked great...and in the most perfect spot! I just couldn't stop smiling!
Then I looked over and got to watch my mom's piercing. Which is a total trip after just getting my navel pierced. Seeing what I just went through was definitely different. But I watched all of it, it was actually pretty interesting knowing I had just gone through that same experience. After we were both done she went over the after care sheet and made us feel so good after having gotten pierced there and also coming back if we had questions anything. It was the best experience! I left the shop with a huge smile, my first (other than ears) piercing, a bumper sticker in silver and the proud feeling that I actually got the piercing!
I'm not a skinny, thin, little chippy that got her navel pierced because she thought it would attract more guys. I'm a 19..almost 20 year old, with a shapely full figured body who wanted to proove to herself that she didn't have to be a perfect size 5 to get a piercing. So my tummy isn't flat but my navel piercing really look great on me. I guess that's one of the reasons I wanted to publish my story here. So there are any more young/old full figured gals out there..I wanted them to see that you don't have to be a thin to get pierced on your cute tummies!
I did it and I would do it again in a heartbeat! I'm really enjoying it. It's basically painless, You make sure to clean it twice a day. I use Dial AntiB., and it works great! My piercing is healthy and doing great. If you haven't gotten your navel pierced and your thinking about it, it's definitely something you should do. You'll never be sorry that you did! :) If anyone has any questions feel free to write me at : SassyShassy@aol.com. I'd love to answer any questions, plus I have some great shots of my new piercing!! :)
