My belly ring

I'm 17 and have my ears pierced 5 times, 4 times down the botton and once up the top and I had always wanted my belly button pierced, but when I located my local piercing place they said that it would cost $60. Also at this studio they said that if I was under 18 I had to have parents permission. My parents (or at least my mother, my father doesn't care) do not want me to get my belly button pierced at all.I am only 17 and so I couldn't get it done there. I thought I would have to wait until I was 18.

Then one Saturday night my boyfriend and I decided to go to Adelaide just for something to do. We were walking down this street and I went into a number of piercing places asking about getting my belly button pierced, but I wasn't really going to do it, i was more just curious about how much it costed in some other places.

We were on our way back to the car and I was seriously thinking about getting it done. I was just going to say that I was 18. My boyfriend said that he would pay for it if I wanted it done, so we went back to the studio.

There I asked about getting it done and the cost, which depended on the type of ring put in. I got a small silver one and I only cost $45! Also you had to be under 16 and have parents permission, so my age was not a problem.

I stayed in the shop for about 20 minutes just asking the girl how much it would hurt (she said that it just feels like someone flinging you with a rubber band), and just generally getting my self worked up about it. I looked at some photos that they had around on the walls. I told the girl that I was really scared of pain and she said that she was to, but she had her ears pierced heaps of times and her belly button pierced 3 times! She also said that the girl who does the actual pairings is really quick. Eventually I decide to go through with it.

It was about 10pm and there weren't many people there, so I was able to go in straight away. I was soooooooo nervous, I am really scared of pain. The piercer took me out the back and cleaned the area and then marked it, while I was standing up. Then she told me to lie down and put my right hand under my bum, my other was holding my boyfriend's hand. She put the clamp on, which didn't hurt at all; it just felt like a little prick. While the clap was on I moved my right hand to hole my boyfriends as well, because I was so nervous and scared it would hurt heaps. As I did that she stuck the needle in, which I though hurt. I asked if it was done and she said 5 more seconds and she put the ring in.

Then she got a mirror and showed me what it looked like, I wasn't used to it and at the time wasn't sure how I felt, but now I love it. After I had a look at it she put a small square bandage over it and told me to leave it on for 2 or 3 hours.

She told me how to clean it and i got a bottle of anit bacterial soft wash and some Listerine, and then we went home. It stung on the way home, which was probably because I had to sit for an hour. When I stood up though I had no problems, except that I could feel the little bandage that she put over it.

I am glad that a woman pierced it for me, because another guy that I asked about the piercing seemed dirty and I didn't like the idea of that. Where I went was really clean and had awards on the wall complementing them on the hygiene rate there. That made me feel a lot better too.

At first I was scared about someone bumping it or it getting caught, but so far none of those things have happened and I don't think they will.

I personally think that it did hurt a little bit, but now I put that down to being so tense and nervous, even so now only 3 days later I am glad that it got done. i love my new belly button and both my boyfriend and i think it looks cool. I don't have any pain and it looks like it is healing quite well. I recommend that any one who wants to get their belly button pierced shooed, JUST RELAX.
