So...I'd seen a picture of this piercing over christmas and as soon as I saw it I had to have it. I'm the kind of impulsive person that does something not necessarily without thinking but once i want it, I want it. I showed some pictures to my friends and to my parents, I don't think my dad would even notice and my mum didn't really like it but that was not even slightly going to stop me. I didn't want to get it done at home cos it's so much more of a big deal back home whereas at uni there are all sorts of people with piercings and tattoos galore (i go to an art uni).

I went in on monday afternoon after a little bit of gentle persuasion from one of my friends. I had a budget of about £30 to spend on it but it was £35, only an extra £5 and i get my jewellery changed in 2 weeks time which is included in the price, BARGAIN! But typically it turned out the piercer wasn't in on a monday so I had to wait a whole day to get it done. Frustrating.
Anyway, I popped down the next day to get it done. I took a friend with me who was also getting her lip done. This was a great comfort to know she was getting a massive needle stuck through her lip too, although i went first. My friends at uni thought it was a brilliant idea and were really good when I was getting a bit nervous. "No, you'll be fine" they kept telling me. Which I was.
When I was stood in the studio I was getting more and more nervous and my friend could tell cos i wasn't being my normal loud, chatty self. My stomach was in knotts and I was getting so nervous. Now I look back on it I don't even know I worked myself up so much cos it really wasn't THAT bad at all. Silly really. While my friend was flipping through the tattoo books, I was plucking up the courage to ask for what I wanted. I finally went over to the front desk and asked for it, "Can I have my vertical labret please?". I filled out my form she gave me and all that stuff and went into the piercing room which was clean and Aran (the piercer)was really friendly and very polite. This instantly put me at ease cos i was bricking it before hand. He ran through the usual speech and marked me up. Then I laid down on the bed thing, he didn't clamp my lip which I actually preferred cos I didn't feel so silly.
Breathe in, breathe out...1, 2, 3....DONE! And I must say it wasn't overly painful, of course it hurt but nothing compared to my nose. I looked in the mirror and loved it. I got it done yesterday and it hasn't swollen too much or hurt really at all.
As soon as I had it done I was on the phone to all my friends telling them about it. I went over to one of my uni mates house to show it off and he supplied me with a few straws to help drinking (especially out of a bottle) cos i didn't want to be dribbling everywhere like a total goon.
I slept on it fine last night and I ate well last night. I am drinking through a straw but thats just so I don't aggravate it at all because i want this piercing to be a keeper. Everyone has been very complimentary about it and I love it too.
It's a bit awkward cleaning it tho i must say, soaking it in salt water is a bit of an effort when the whole of your face is in a bowl but it's all good. I was also worried about getting sore/dry lips but I was pierced with a labret stud so the flat bit is at the top and I am able to close my mouth fully so my mouth and lips do not dry out which is nice!
I'd recommend it to anyone thinking about getting it done and I'd definitely do it again. I'm going back in 2 weeks to get the bar changed over and to check the healing which i cannot wait for! I am also lookin forward to it healing properly so i don't need to be as careful with it. I go to uni and work at a very laid back place so the piercing is not a problem at the moment.
