I have wanted a vertical labret for about 3 years now. My mom always said that I would have to wait until I was 18 for me to get it, but I knew that I could convince her.

Two weeks ago, we were in the area of the studio with a friend of mine, and we were trying to think of something to do. I randomly blurted out "Let's go get my lip done." I wasn't expecting any other answer but No, but to my surprise my mom actually said okay!!!! She said it was an early birthday present to me. We had to run home and grab my ID because as my luck would have it- I didn't have it with me.I got extremely nervous about 2 seconds after my mom said "Okay" because I realized that I was finally going to have it done!!! I've wanted it for so long and I've looked at so many pictures and so many experiences, but this time it was going to me, all mineee.

We got to the studio (which I have heard so many good things about from a close friend of mine) and went up to the counter and I told the desk guy that I was interested in a vertical labret. He smiled and said alright and handed me all the paper work and checked out my ID.I was taken into a back room and was given some mouth wash- I went to the bathroom and washed my mouth out and then went into the piercing room. I sat down and Keith, the owner of the studio, came in and started talking to me and mom. He marked my lip and had me check out the placement, I wasn't entirely happy with it so I told him that I thought the top one should be more to the left, he agreed. He didn't remark it though because he didn't want to smudge the stuff all over my lip.

He put the clamp on and told me to take a deep breath in and out, he pushed the needle through and before I knew it the jewelery was in and I was looking in a mirror. It looked amazing- until I noticed it was crooked. I sorta brushed it off and thought maybe the swelling was pushing the curved barbell to the side or something. I made up every excuse in my head that day to try and tell myself it wasn't crooked. Everyone noticed that it was though, so I knew it wasn't just me.

(I must say though, that Keith made the experience so enjoyable and comfortable, and I also cannot blame him for the mistake- he is human.)

By the time I decided I would have it looked at the studio was closed so I had to wait till the next day to go in and have them check it out. The next day I called and they told me to come back in and they would see what was going on.

I went in and went right back into the room where it was done and Keith took one look at it and started apologizing. Sure enough, it was crooked. He took it out and told me to wait 2 weeks to come back and have it re-done, because I had only had it in for one day. I was so heart-broken I actually teared up, even though it was only there for a day- It felt so natural.

I went back in 2 weeks later and did the same procedure but with a different piercer (that's why there are two artist's names at the top) . She was nice, and this time I had to lay dDon't be afraid to speak up to the piercer if you aren't happy with something such as placement. It's your body and you are going to have to live with it, not them!
