Stage 3 In My Facial Piercing Project - Vertical Labret
At A Glance Author [QUEEN] Contact [QUEEN]@bme.anon When N/A Artist Dan Studio Left Hand Path Tattoo Location Linwood, Christchurch, New Zealand This was going to be an exciting day. I was getting three lip piercings. The most exciting one is the vertical labret. I saw a photo on the SG girls web site. I was like wow. Thats gorgeous. I want one. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. My mind was set. I would not be happy, UNTIL I got my vertical labret. Not that I knew its name at this time it was not until after I found BME and was inundated mentally by body mods and the variety of piercings. I am though drawn to things which are different. A combination of piercings that can create their own beauty, art.
By now my piercings had officially become my facial piercing project. I was in today to get 3 lower lip piercings including this one. I was excited and my blood was boiling as I waited for class to pass so I could go get pierced before returning to code for a couple of hours for my sys dev project.
I walked into the studion Left Hand Path www.lefthandpathtattoos.com I had phone before hand. Spoken to Dan. Explained what piercings I wanted this time and confirmed he had the necessary jewelery on hand. Luckily for this peircing fan, he did!!
Happily I got in my car and took off for Linwood. Arriving not long after I participated in the usual greetings. Let Dan have a look at my other piercings and how they were healing. Then we went into his piercing room. We looked over the jewelry and I was shown the barbell that would soon be my vertical labret. THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL. Excited we talked money for a bit and off Dan went to put the jewelery in the auto clave and I took my now usual walk to the cash machine to get the money.
I came back waited a little while longer and then Dan appeared with my freshly prepared jewelry in one of those metal kidney bowls.
We went into the piercing room and he had me get up on the chair / bed thing. Then we began the tricky part of drying my top lip and marking the upper lip and the exit hole below. We did this several times till we had it right and I was happy.
Next the clamps came out and the needle in its pack. While this was going on I told Dan I hoped it bled and he smiled. We were getting to know each other better now. Turns out he likes blood too and my blood fetish was shared. BONUS :D As I mentioned I was having 2 other lip piercings that day so he was doing this one first as if we did the snake bites first the swelling of them MAY cause the vertical labret to be off centre. This seemed sensible.
Next step the needle pierced me it was a beautiful feeling and I tried to hold in my smile. Snip and snip now the tube in my lip was shortened and the barbell could be slid in. This was done and I was able to have a quick look in the mirror at how gorgeous it was ! ! !
We then continued with my snake bites which can be read in my other story in that section. After we were done. I asked Dan a few different questions about healing time precautions I should take and general aftercare stuff. Again I was told to use a salt water rinse to keep my new piercing happy and healthy.
I paid Dan and told him Id be back in a few weeks to have them checked and to change the vertical labret to a shorter bar. Before that we popped out back to snap a few shots of my lips. They are now up on their website and my newer ones will be up soon.
Pain: NOt really every once in a while I woud have a few twinges that were more uncomfortable than painful. Those have now stopped completely.
Swelling: I took some anti imflammatories the first week and found them to be fantastic. My doctor knew of my piercings and prescribed them to help reduce swelling and aid in the healing.
Healing: The lips healed faster than any other piercings. Now I have all up4 in my lips and adding another 4 mouth piercings this coming weekend.
Take good care of your piercings and rinse your mouth regularly. I love my vertical labret it is my favorite along with my anti eyebrow piercing.
As for a good piercer in New Zealand. Again I speak highly of Dan we have a great relationship as customer and piercer. He is very good. He is clean. He knows what he is talking about. He is laid back and easy going. Never once have I felt rushed or hurried or just another few dollars for someone to earn.
I am complimented constantly on my piercings and have sent many friends over to see him. The vertical labret was by far one of my best piercings. If you get one I am sure you will love it too!!!
