I have always liked body piercings, probably since I started liking music. At around 11 years old. My mum obviously didn't, although there was a few she did like, (madonna, tongue, nose.) My sister had got her eyebrow pierced a few years ago when she was my age, she didn't like it and it got infected. She still has the scar so my mum was a bit reluctant about allowing me to get a piercing. The only other piercing I'd had were my ears. I had to have them done three times because they always got infected. She was worried about my body piercing because of this, incase my body rejected it or something. My face also has very sensitive skin so me and my mother were worried about this too, incase it made my face blow up or something. ( That has happened in the past, I used a foundation I wasn't used to and my face went incredibly puffy, my eyes turned into slits and my lips stuck out about an inch. Ew. )
At A Glance Author immi :) Contact ladyxofxsorrows@hotmail.co.uk When It just happened Artist not sure. Studio salsa Location warrington, cheshire. I had originally planned to get my tongue pierced at Bodz, in Liverpool.
We rang them up to make an appointment and they refused, I was too young for a 'sexual' piercing, even with parental consent. I was pissed for a while, but soon realised I liked the monroe a whole lot more.
I asked my mother, and she said I could get it done when school was out for the summer, and after our holiday in Spain. But she kept forgetting to ring Bodz, and only remembered to 2 months after she said she would. We rang up again ( she finally remembered. ), and made an appointment for today ( Saturday 18th august. )at 11am. I was chuffed, to say the least.
We woke up this morning at quarter to 11. Bodz had moved to Chester a few weeks before, there was no way we would be in Chester by 11, its about a 45 minute drive. So we decided to go into Warrington town and get it done in Salsa instead, a lot of my friends had been in there to get pierced and nothing had gone wrong.
Salsa was a shop downstairs with clothes and jewellery and such and the piercing was upstairs. We walked in and looked around at the clothes first, then went over to the counter to choose the jewellry. I chose a plain silver ball, as I didn't want it coloured or jewelled for now. The ball I originally chose was tiny, the piercer told me it would probably be too small for when I first got it done, as it may go inside the piercing and scab over. So I chose a slightly larger one, it wasnt massive or tiny, just the right size I would say. It was only £12 for the piercing, £4 for the jewellry, and another £4 for the wash and aftercare stuff. I was very happy when I heard it was only £12, a lot better than the £45 at Bodz! The piercer went upstairs to sterilize the jewellry and the needles and things while we stayed downstairs, mooched around the shop and chatted to the girls working there about Glastonbury Festival, Amy Winehouse and how Red Bull is getting banned from a lot of places because its not approved or something.
She marked the spot with the pen, I hopped off the bed and looked in the mirror, it was perfect. She sprayed some antiseptic and told me to wait until my mouth numbed. I started dribbling and made quite a mess haha. She then sprayed some Freeze Spray for further numbing, I'd managed to dribble out all of the antiseptic! She then put the clamps on, it wasnt uncomfortable or painful, and put the needle through from the bottom. It hurt for about a second, but not too much pain to handle. The piercer put the jewellry on and it was all over in about a minute. I got off the bed again and looked in the mirror. It was absolutely beautiful. She gave me a sheet on aftercare, I said thankyou, and walked out, recieving compliments from all the staff downstairs.
As we came out of the shop we had to walk through town quite a way before getting to the car, so we decided to have a little mooch round town. We looked around and nothing particularly caught my eye except a black dress that was 75 pounds. We walked back to the car after buying a coffee from Starbucks for mum and I treated myself to a slushie from Millies cookies for me and my new piercing. It took about an hour to drink it all!
At the moment, my mouth isn't sore or painful, my top lip just feels a little bit heavy. The back caught on my teeth a few times and I was worried in case it had fallen out haha.
We drove back home and my mum agreed it looked very pretty, and made me look a lot older. As soon as we got home I showed my brother.
He wasn't too impressed. "Good Lord!"
I ran up the stairs and showed my sister. She said it looked lovely and we talked about Salsa and the numbing and how she did it. My sister didnt get numbed and her eyebrow bled a hell of a lot.
So now I'm sat, looking at my beautiful monroe in the mirror and typing this up.
I think anyone who wants to get their monroe pierced they definately should go for it, its a beautiful piercing.
