After adding another piercing to my collection, [maine] the bit just above your tragus I swore to my piercing hating parents it would be my last. That was the truth till I got the piercing bug...again and i started my new job and my manager had her MONROE pierced, i was in love.
I got home from work and instantly came on this site where i spend allot of my spare time dreaming about the piercings that will never be. Anyway after about 3hrs of begging my parents to let me get it done they agreed.
So 2 weeks later I was on my way to my favourite piercing/hippy store 'The Karma House'. They asked if i was 17 i said yes (lie) but they need photo I'D no matter what so I was upset. My sister in law who is 24 but looks younger then me offered to sign as my guardian but they said they needed someone older. So eventually they asked if they could ring my Mummy, i said yes thinking she is going to say no , but she said my daughter is only 16 but she can have it done. I was so happy when the piercer came out and said ok we are ready to go.
So she took me into a very white and clean room with a big bed in it. We talked about the risks and damages then marked a spot , looked good straight away so she told me to lie down on the bed.
I was really nervous so I closed my eyes and held Tammy (my sis in law)hand. The lady said there was nothing to be worried about as she put the clamp on. The clamp just felt like a bit of pressure then there was a little pinch when the needle went through. Then another little pinch when the jewellery went through. To tell the truth I was shocked when she said ok all done.
I had a look in the mirror at my big silver ball on my top right lip and smiled. Then she ran through the after care with me and gave me a bag of sea salt.
Then I was immeditaley hungry after so me and Tammy decided to have KFC while ordering, the girl at the checkout looked and looked again at my lip because it was still a bit bloody around the ball. When we got out food Tammy just kept staring as I was eating and talking then all of a sudden the ball fell off. I caught it in my hand and ran back to the piercer.
She could not stop apologizing and said it must have been a dud ball. So she put the tube back through my lip and put in new jewellery this hurt more than the piercing its self but I got over it.
After apologizing again and giving me another piece of jewellery because of it i left. It was hot that day so playing football with my cousins wasn't a good idea as sweat ran into my fresh piercing and made it itchy.
However after sea-salt soaks twice a day for 3 weeks and gently wiping away crusties, it healed nicely and I got it changed to a small jewel with a plastic back as the metal irritated my teeth.
I've had it since last October and not once has it ever caused me any pain or drama except when I dropped the jewel and had to put the big silver one back in, it was difficult to find the hole on the inside and caused it to get irritated because I was shoving metal all through my lip till I found the hole.However this was earlier on in my piercing and I've grown to know and love it completely. I love it and have only got nice comments about it except when i had the huge silver ball sticking out of my face. Since feeling so comfortable with that piercing I got my tragus , side of my lip, Naval and more in my ear, I eventually Hope to get my nape done.
If you are looking for a piercing that is different yet absolutely beautiful this is the one to go for. It's not just for girls either (lead singer of Gym Class Heroes has his done). It's no pain , no fuss just a great piercing in general I highly recommend it. But just like with any other piercing if your not going to take the time to care for it don't bother.
