So I've always been really into body modification. But I was never allowed to do any type of it because I am allergic to metal. It never really bothered me until I was about 12, when my friend who was 16 got her tongue pierced. I was really intrigued by it, so I asked her one day for a tongue ring barbell..Because I planned on piercing it, and I did, without a needle or anything just shoved the barbell through. Next came ears, navel, nose, Monroe... all self-done. I always wished I could just go get it done professionally, because it would be so much easier, and probably less painful, how ever I am NOT allowed to have piercings other than my ears, because my mother thinks its bad or something, so pretty much any piercing I get have to be secretive.
At A Glance Author wednesday Contact fullah1@yahoo.com When It just happened Artist myself Studio my bedroom Location my house I really loved the way lip labret piercings looked, not in the middle, but off to the side, I thought it was so cute! So I decided one morning that I wanted one of those too! Actually I had been thinking about it for about a week, but finally got up the guts to do it Friday afternoon.
I didn't have any of the proper materials, no gauged sterile needles or forceps or anything. I figured, well hell... I just need the labret stud. I'll just paint it pink. Well I went down to Wal-Mart, bought the stud, and there was only one type, it was small, for healed piercings, and I didn't really realize that, so I just settled for it.
I brought it home, and found a thick sewing needle, I assumed it was around 16g, same as the labret stud, I didn't sterilize anything, I didn't use Listerine or anything, which I know isn't safe, but I am pretty sure of myself when it comes to piercing, and when I get an infection you can tell me otherwise... I drew a dot with liquid eyeliner on the left side of my lower lip, I originally intended for the right, but my friend matt was there, and he wanted me to do it on the left. He was encouraging me every step of the way, as I put the needle to my skin, and put a clean sock on the other side so that I wouldn't stab my finger, and I tried to push it in. After a couple minutes, with what seemed like no progress, I was like, why is it not going through! So I pulled the sock out and looked at the inside of my lip and saw that the needle had already gone through. I DIDN'T FEEL A THING! Virtually painless, except for a pinch of the needle at the surface.
My lip was pretty swollen, and at this time, I noticed that the labret stud was just NOT going to cut it, it was WAY too short to put in with the swelling, so I had to use a really long earring stud. Not too smart, but I had pulled it off before with my Monroe. I put a rubber earring back on it and later when I ate dinner I swallowed the earring back. Haha. The next morning, it felt better and was less swollen, so I put the earring stud into the little hole in the labret stud and pushed through while I pulled the earring stud out. Oh my god. It hurt terrible.
For the next two days I kept it in. It hurt because it was too tight and the swelling would not go down with it like that. But it was the only labret stud I had.
I finally got sick of that pain, so I got a 14g small belly button ring, and put it a the entrance of the piercing, and pulled the labret stud out while the belly button ring was going in. That hurt too, but not as bad as the first one, just stretching it a bit. I've been wearing that since last night and it is SO much better, the swelling has gone down, and it's just a lot less painful. I just need to get a 14-gauge labret stud now, and then it will be all good.
Hiding it is another story; it's pretty hard to do, because at first the earring stud just looked like a cut on my lip. Then I painted the labret stud pink so it looked like a pimple, haha. Now, this belly button ring is pretty much impossible to hide unless I take the ball off and push the bar back until you can barely see it, and that kind of hurts, its what I did this morning when my dad drove me to work. He didn't seem to notice. So I guess that's just what I'm going to do until it's healed.
