At A Glance Author placebogirl Contact miss_narcoleptic@yahoo.com When Three months ago Artist Zagreb tattoo studio,Croatia I always wanted a Monroe or,as some reffer to it, a Madonna lip piercing. After having my navel,eyebrow and tongue pierced this was the next one on my list. I was pretty sure it would look good on me and suite me since I have small mouth and lips. Personally I don't like Monroes on people who have Angelina Jolie type of lips.
I was thinking about it for about a month and when I finally decideded I wanna do it,I figured noone wanted to come with me so I went to the studio alone. It's a rather small studio,not as fancy as the other ones but I had all of my pierings done there and I never had any problems caused by them,the once I had were a slight problems and I only have myself to blame.
I was slightly nervous as I always am before getting a new piercing. It's mostly because I can't wait to get it done and to show it around. The piercer was sweet,she told me to relax and to chose my jewlery.I've chosen a not so small labret with a shiny ball,a pretty daring choice for a first one but I just knew it would look good.
I sat on the chair and we chitt chatted while she was getting ready.
She rubbed the anesthetic on my lip which felt nice and cold as usual but my entire mouth went numb.We joked about it cause I couldn't feel the saliva dripping from my mouth.
Deciding where excatly to place the labret was a little bit difficult. She said it's better if it's not too close to the lip so it doesn't damage my teeth. I agreed on placing it a little but higher. You don't know how it's gonna fit you untill you do it but thank god I had the piercer that was highly experienced and knew what she was doing. If you place the labret too close to the lip it could cause teeth deterioration and if you place it too high it could cause damage to your gums,so either way it might go wrong.
She took the needle and was ready to poke me. I couldn't wait but I was slightly afraid if I would feel anything. When the needle went through I was reliefed. It was the same as any other piercing,you don't exactly feel the pain but just something sharp pushing through your flesh. There was hardly any blood. She had to reach for the jewlery that was on the other table and she asked me if I could hold the needle while she goes and get it. Holding a needle sticking out of my flesh? All I can say is it was amazing! Nothing better than a feeling of fresh steel in your flesh! She came back and put the labret in. I looked at myself on the mirror and I laughed cause the labret was long and the bar was sticking out of my lip,but I was right,it does look good on me. We were both extremly happy because the labret was placed exactly on the spot where it doesn't irritate my gums or my teeth. the place was perfect and I loved it.
She gave me the aftercare instructions that I already knew by heart but she also told me not to chew too much for the first couple of days. On my long way home by public transportation it bleeded a little bit but nothing serious. I didn't even have to wipe it off.
I came home and I was so hungry I had to eat something. I ate slowly and it didn't hurt that bad,it was just a little bit sore.
The firts cleaning went smooth,I cleaned the exterior part with a q tip soaked in salty water and then rinsed my mouth with the same water. No problem at all,I did that around 5 or 6 times a day for about couple of month. Today I clean it almost every day although it's not necessary. It's just important to keep your mouth clean and not to chew gums a lot for the firts couple of month so the piercing doesn't move to much. And absolutely no french kissing,oral sex and fun stuff like that for about a month.
When I woke up the next morning my lip was swollen. I was a little bit dissapointed cause I was hoping that it wouldn't be swallon but I was told it's normal and it is. After about two weeks I could replace it with a shorter bar and I was delighted.
My Monroe fits perferctly on my face and I'm absolutely loving it.
I would recommend it to anyone.
It was an amazing experience and I'm actually thinking about another Monroe on the other side of my mouth.
