So....I always said I would never get a facial piercing..but I was itching to get another piercing and I always thought the vertical labret looked so sexy. Its not too much or overwhelming. I already have my tongue and belly and nipples pierced...so I figured I might as well get this. I was scared about scarring but then I just figured I might as well just go for it, cuz I knew if I didnt do it now then I would regret it later.

Since I go to school in the middle of nowhere, I decided to travel about an hour to pittsburgh to get it done. I drove there on Monday and I was so nervous I thought I was gonna pee my pants. THe whole drive was horrible, considering there was a ton of traffic and I just wanted to get it over with!! I ate a whole bag of sour patch kids on the way down just to keep my sugar level up so I wouldnt pass out. Even though I have never passed out from any of my other piercings or my tattoos....Im a wierdo.

When I got to the studio..there was nobody there so I got to go in right away. The guy was super nice and friendly and I brought my friend with me for comfort. I was joking with him about how they should keep adult pampers in the studio for nervous people like me. He took a while to mark the dots of where he was going to pierce it which made me comfortable, since I had to have it straight or I would cry. He cleaned my lip off and made me rinse with listerine. He then had my lie down and he told me it would just be a pinch and to take a deep breah and he would pierce when I exhaled. I took a deep breath and I felt a wierd feeling as my lip had the needle pass through it. It definately hurt but it wasnt anything unbearable. HE didnt use clamps to pierce it, and he pierced from the bottom up. He was struggling a little bit to get the barbell in because the cannula wasnt big enough or somthing..i dont know. The person I went with told me this, its not like I could see. But anyways that was it. He told me to look at it and at first im not gonna lie I didnt like it. I thought it looked wierd. But after about 5 minutes i fell in love with it. I absolutely love how it looks on my lips and its perfectly positioned.

Right after I went to eat some food and it wasnt that difficult since the piercing isnt in my mouth. I Just cut the food up in small pieces and was careful not to bump it when i put it in my mouth. I also had to drink from a straw.

He told me to rinse with diluted listerine after everything i ate or drank that wasnt water and to do sea salt soaks after the third day. It is now friday and my lip is still a little sore. It didnt even swell that much to begin with. He pierced my lip with a 16 gauge 3/8 curved barbell. At first I thougtht it looked too short but he reassured me it was the right length, and anything longer would be too long. The next day, it was sore and it hurt to smile. Also, I kept obsessing over the length of the barbell. It was leaving a little indent of the ball on the top of my lip. I think my barbell is definately too short and that is why i feel as if its stinging everytime i use the sea salt soaks. I went back to the shop and they said the barbell is fine, but Im still going to look for a 7/16 barbell to put in just so i can calm my mind and then change it back to the 3/8 after its healed. It is getting a little crusty, but i think that is also because the bar is too short and there isnt enough room for me to clean it. I mean if the piercer said it was fine, then im sure it is fine, but im just over anal about my piercings and obsess over the smallest things. I cant wait until it is healed so i can try to actually drink out of a cup normally!!!

I would recommend this piercing because its so sexy and the pain isnt even bad at all. lots of people are going to ask you questions about it though and what is it, because it isnt a very common piercing. I love it!!!
