I had been thinking of getting my lip pierced on the right for many months now. Ever since I saw Dave the lead singer from AFI and his lip piercing I had wanted it. I'm still not sure what kept me from getting it done but the other day I got paid more then enough due to Easter bonus. I decided that the next day as it was my day off that I would finally get it done. I was so excited about finally getting it done that I promised myself that if it all goes well I'm going to get my tongue done later down the track, Which I recon my girlfriend would love as well as be jealous of, as she tried to get hers done 1 month before, only to be told that her tongue was to short and if it was pierced it would go straight into her tongue webbing, and 99% chance of getting a serious infection plus real bad nerve damage.

As I walked into the shop I was surprised at what I saw. It was so clean and so full of color, with wall to wall pictures of tattoo designs. I was jealous wished I was 18 so I could also get my dream tattoo. Then I started trying to imagine what id look like with my soon to be new piercing. It was too late to turn back now I decided. I had managed to walk into the shop with money in my wallet. I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be. I have had so many needles in my life that I bet I could gather 100 people from the streets and still have had more then those all combined. I walked up to the counter not expecting my next sight. A middle age woman with no piercing or tattoos that showed whatsoever greeted me warmly. I the proceeded to explain what I wanted: bottom lip pierced to the right. She then explains the procedure and costs as well as answering all the questions I asked her. She also explained that because I have a bigger lip then most (similar to Angelina jollies) that she would put a longer stud in to accompany swelling for my size lips. With all that said I then said to her that I wanted it to be done today. She replied to me that she would time to have it done now.
With that she then lead me to studio 2 with was used for piercing, studio 1 was also piercing but was taken up buy a blonde women getting her nose pierced and studio 3-4 were mainly used for tattoos. As I walked into the room she told me to sit on the table. She then placed a dot onto my lip with a special pen to mark where the needle would go though. She then asked me if that's where I wanted it and I replied yes, after checking my self out in the mirror. She then asked me to lie down on the table and read the sign which was placed above my head. It read: remember to breathe. I thought to myself imp not the kind of guy to fait at this sort of thing but I did as the sign asked. She then prepared the needle and as she was doing it she explained that's its all sterile and that's it's the same as when you would go to the doctors. She then rubbed the area around my mouth with a non-alcoholic rub. She then placed her hands onto my lip with the needle (with rubber gloves on) in her other. Then "POP" the needle was in. painless. She then placed the stud in my lip and screwed on the ball. With that she was finished. I sat up and looked into the mirror with pride. I was so glad I got it done. We then walked out of the studio, to the counter where I paid for my lip and left very pleased at myself and very proud of my new piercing. When I got home I was proud to show it off even though my parent didn't really approve.
Now I just got to return in 10 days for my free check-up and to replace the jewelry from a stud to a captive ball ring, which was the style I originally wanted. I also decided that if my girlfriend approves I mite get another done of the left side so I can have the snake fangs look-In pretty sure my parents wont like it though.
With that I'm happy to say if you want a piercing go for it. Please for your health and safety, and also for the studios sake do your homework and read up on the risks. NO ONE wants a dodgy piercing from a place that is1nt qualified to do them. Also if you find you're having trouble with the healing process then consult your doctor or your local piercers. Now that's my experience with my piecing. As you can read it was a good one but beware there not all good ones out there.
