At A Glance Author sassykat323 Contact sassykat323@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist Nick Studio STTP Location Portland, OR I had recently separated from my husband and moved across the country. I was feeling the itch to do something different and fun. Something I hadn't done before.
I'd been looking at labret piercings for a few years, trying to decide if it would be something I could go through- now I'm not a pain wuss, I'm into some pretty painful things, but I have had problems with needles in the past.
So, after talking it over with many friends, I had decided that I was going to do it. Interestingly enough, I kept putting it off- first there was this that had to be taken care of with the money, then that.
One day, I had decided enough was enough, and called STTP (Straight To The Point). I had gotten recommendations from many people to go to them, and Nick told me that he would be available for about an hours space that evening when he wasn't booked.
So after work, I hopped on the train, and made it out there as fast as I could. After getting turned around (I still didn't know the area that well), I made it there about 15 minutes later than he said he would be available. At this point, I was worried that my bravery was going to fail, or that they would be to busy.
I walked in, and was instantly put at ease by th lovely entrance room. It was classy, clean, and well lit. Lots of pretty book and artwork, as well as Nick's book of piercing work was sitting out for me to browse through.
Alec was there, and told me that Nick would be with me in just a few moments, once he was finished with the piercing he was doing. We chit chatted a little about the piercing I wanted, why I was getting it done, and I looked through his book, as well. He does amazing corset piercings- just a side note.
So, Nick came out, and we talked about what I wanted, and I laughingly told him the reason. Apparently, it's not common for recent divorcee's to get labret piercings, but they thought it was pretty cool. So, he explained to me the process in detail, and we picked out my jewelry, which was easy, considering it was tygon, and I just had to pick the ball. I got a larger one, figuring that it would look good.
He made me extremely comfortable- he was competent, knowing, and friendly. He kept me chit chatting the entire time everything was getting ready, and then kept talking to me during the procedure. He was very picky (good) at the placement of the ring, and really made me feel like he knew exactly what he was doing.
Then it was over. Flash- very little pain that I remember, just a huge endorphin rush afterwards, when I saw the jewelry in! It looked so gorgeous, and I was ecstatic that I had finally done it! So much so, that apparently, I passed out form the rush... I was sitting there talking at one moment, and the next I was coming to. I chuckle at it now, but I was very embarrassed at the time- I'd never passed out before in my life! He told me it wasn't unheard of, especially for the first real piercing one gets. Anyway, so I was still a little high off of endorphins, but Alec and Nick wouldn't let me get up. They wanted to make sure that I was going to be fine, and told me next time to eat closer to my appointment (it has only been about 4 hours). Nick actually went next door and got me a soda to get some sugar in my system.
Afterwards, I sat and talked with them about the book they are working on about corset piercings, and they made sure I was good to go before I ever left! Nick sat down and went over all the aftercare with me, recommended the H20cean solution and went over the different rules that I needed to follow. I felt great about the way that he went over the aftercare- very straightforward and no BS that I've heard of sometimes happening.
Now, a little past three months later, and it's pretty much healed up. For a little while when I was sick and coughing all the time, it was a little irritated, but I took care of it with some Biotene mouthwash(at Nick's recommendation) and it was as good as new!
They were extremely friendly, professional, and I would never go anywhere else in Portland!
I highly recommend them both for any piercing work that anyone may want, as they do pretty much everything, and it all looks beautiful! I miss them here in Seattle, especially now that I'm getting that itch for another piercing again.
