So, I've always been a bit of a body modification buff. Everything, with exception of my conch [RIP], was done entirely by me until I realized my mother would freak and took everything out.

Anyway, that is not what this is about.

For the past week, I've been bothering my mother to allow me to get a piercing of some sort professionally, and surprisingly, she agreed. So today my brother, mother, and I went to Phoenix Rising in North Syracuse, NY.

My brother got his septum done by Jay about a week ago, and he is even going back tonight to get his tongue.

If you're in the area, I completely recommend it! They're very clean, and Jay explains things in a way that makes it so there are absolutely no surprises. It's also not very expensive, and the treatment there is amazing.

Sooooo, we made our merry way, and the whole time I was getting pre-piercing jitters.

I had basically set myself up for failure, telling myself it was going to hurt, but I was going through with it no matter HOW bad it hurt.

I've read the stories on here, some about horrible pain, and some about it not hurting. I've read up on this stuff, and I was completely convinced I'm a wuss and it was going to hurt me so much I was probably going to cry. [Although, I must say, I was starting to think differently when I got my wisdom tooth taken out about a week ago and was eating a bagel the next day.]

After rinsing my mouth with Listerine, Jay sat me down and had me calm down.
He cleaned everything off, got out the nice sterilized needles and got everything on his table ready. He then cleaned my mouth off with alcohol, and then iodine [which I still have a stain from, haha.]. After this was completed, he lined everything up based on my face, and I started my inner mantra.

He put the clamps on after I was happy with their placement, explaining the entire procedure in detail so I was comfortable with everything that was going on.

As he started, I was still having some doubts about how pain-free he told me it was going to be.

Sadly, I had to get pierced with hoops because of the swelling factor, but he also said he'd change the jewelry in three weeks so I could have my beloved studs.

When he did the first one, on the right side, I laughed after the jewelry was put in because I honestly couldn't feel it. Well, I could feel the needle, of course, but it wasn't any worse than biting my lip; and the pain subsided just as quickly!

The second one hurt a little worse, but it was harder to get it through there due to previous scar tissue unrelated. Although the same thing happened as with the first one, once the needle was through, and the jewelry in, I couldn't feel it at all. He was even cleaning them up after and I couldn't feel a thing!

I think I was just made for these. xD

Perhaps it was truly a mind over matter thing, because as Jay talked me down, I was beginning to calm down. He told me it was nothing, and my brother said the same. I'm positive that if you want a piercing, and you want something that is easy to get, you should honestly get a lip piercing. I was lucky enough to get two at one time by these AMAZING artists, in a place where it feels I could live.

The aftercare that Jay gave me was a tad different than what I've seen recommended on here, but I trust him completely. He really is a nice guy, very professional but very comfortable. I'd recommend for tattoo's, as well, I've seen some of their work and it's very nice.

Instead if sea salt, he said he wants me to use Listerine after every meal, every time I drink something, every time I pretty much do anything. Bactine on the outside, and that's pretty much it. It was the first time I've ever seen anything alcohol based recommended for an oral piercing, but he knows what to do and I'm just reading a whole bunch of amateur's stories. xD

And now, at 2 hours old, they feel as though I've had them my entire life. Honestly, they do not even feel foreign at all. Let's see how it goes!

My nephew is already wanting to pull at them, but he's 3, so I won't yell at him quite yet. ;P Besides, he's used to my best friend's piercings and knows not to touch them unless I say he can. [Which won't be for a VERY long time.]

I can't wait for more!
