For a few weeks before my 16th, I was thinking about having some thing pierced. I didn't want my tongue pierced, as I had that done last year and I didn't like it much. I considered of having a Madison piercing on my neck... but most people said NO! So one friend suggested I had my lip pierced, I first thought of how much it would hurt. But I thought well I can stand a lot of pain, so that wasn't the issue.

So I decided that's what I would get. So I did my research as do before I consider any piercing. Found out what I needed to know, and a lot of just blah. But most was helpful and I am actually using because my piercer said the same things. So any way, the morning after my party (with a lot of alcohol) I and some friends went to the city center, me being nervous. We walked to the piercing studio, ace tattoos, where I get all of my accessories and retainers. Plus I love the atmosphere there to, really warm welcome and smells clean... really clean walked through the door... and went to the desk and asked for a lip piercing. So she gave me a form to fill in... asking if I had any conditions like fainting or blood problems or AIDS etc, while I was filling it in. my piercer, I think was called Julie or some thing I can't remember, got all the equipment ready, a new needle still in the packet, new clamps new labret stud etc. after I finished the form she called me into the piercing room.
It was rather small but big enough for about 4 people to move around easily. I sat on this dentist's bench type thing. and she asked me to open my mouth as wide as I could and I did so, she wiped my lip on the inside and on the outside, then sprayed a gel into my mouth which kind of burned a bit, and made my tongue and mouth go numb. She marked my lip on the left side where I asked to have it done. After I checked it and said it was where I wanted it, she put on the clamps (which I can't really remember having put on) she then got the needle still in the packet, opened it and pushed it through my lip!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know how to describe how it felt.
Popping would be my best bet; she put in my labret stud, and then removed the needle. This was not very nice. The most painful bit I would say, after she screwed the ball. She wiped the wound on the both sides and said I was all done. The whole experience was over just like that. Felt like no time at all. In fact I think the time from me going into the shop and leaving was about 15 minutes. So I paid the whole sum of only sixteen pounds (british money), which I thought was cheaper... I thanked her and left the shop... while my mouth and tongue continued to feel numb! This was weird because I was talking slobbery, but this went after a while.
I was kind of silly and didn't eat much before I had it pierced, so I was there for really hungry so I headed for the nearest Gregs for a sandwich, but I didn't know how to eat it without catching my new piercing. This was awkward but after a while I got used to it being there. Drinking was even more interesting, I bought some water from Gregs as well, but when I drank it, the top of my mouth felt warm and the bottom felt cold. This was so weird! its now been three days since I have had it pierced and I love it, I keep playing with the back of the stud a bit though, and my lip is a little bit swollen which is expected and the back of the stud has made a circular imprint on the inside of my lip but nothing to worry about.
I have been cleaning it with TCP solution, and currently it doesn't hurt at all, it stings if I play with it too much, so playing with it is a bad idea until its healed a bit first. My mum isn't really bothered by it, but my dad doesn't like it at all, but then again not his lip! But thanks to my mum I'm allowed to keep it in! What are mothers for?
If you want it done, I say go ahead, but make sure you've got your parents permission even if you are old enough! Because they'll respect you more if you do! And always have your piercings done by a professional (is that spelt right) don't be stupid enough to do it yourself, and do research on piercings before you get them done!!!!
