[Gems of different colours.] She had met my friend Rory who pierces people for fun, so they arranged a date. [Earlier this week, Thursday.]
I fell in love with piercings after I got my bellybutton done, 5 months ago. And ever since whenever I had money, and the chance came up I just, got whatever. So this time it was a choice between an industrial, vertical labret and my nipple.
So I met my friend Alina and Rory after school. We went to Studio One on Queen East to pick up the materials. Needles + jewellery. [Since this 'experience' is only supposed to talk about one piercing, I'll not mention the rest.]
I got a 16g. 3/8 curved barbell for the started jewellery, even though I thought the 1/4 would suffice, but the guy selling the jewellery wouldn't let me.
We went back to Rory's house. She set up the equipment, antibacterial wipes, clamp, 14g needle, elastic. [I'm sure there were other things, I saw a lot of other things, cotton wipes, this sort of.. brown antiseptic wipe that smelt funky. GREEN GLOVES!]
So I was lying on my tummy on her bed, and she shone the light on my face. [Before that I gurgled with mouthwash.] I made the dots on my lip, and she clamped my lip. I had to close my eyes after that. I get really shaky and nervous when I get piercings. The clamp didn't hurt, it was calming. I'd rather focus on the clamp. And then she just poked it through. When the needle came out the bottom it hurt a lot, like tons of pinches pulling at your lip. My friend claims it's the most enjoyable experience, getting your lip pierced. I say he's a masochist.
And shazam, it was done. Except, the part where she had to pull the jewellery through, and then the top ball dropped.. so she had to disenfect it, and it was really hard to get the ball on, I was drooling/bleeding, and that created lubricant. Aha.
Afterwards we realized the jewellery was way too big. And well, we though like the swelling would make up for it. But today, 3 days after, my lip is really big, but the jewellery is still too big. When the swelling goes down, I'll go put in a 1/4 16g PURPLE titanium curved barbell.
Hm, the jewellery gets in the way of eating. I keep biting on the top ball. [But eating with a tongue piercing is much harder] Brushing your teeth is really hard too, you need to keep your lower lip pouting and slowly brush your bottom set teeth. [I'm a vigorous tooth brusher, and I keep knocking the balls.]
The day after I got it done, the inside bruised REALLY dark red. And the day afterwards the bruise looked like a lolly pop. I was a bit worried cause that followed my vein lines, BUT.. when the piercings graze a vein or hit it, it either bleeds a lot, or the pressure builds up immediately and becomes really swollen. Which didn't happen.
What else? I fainted from lack of food and blood loss. I was also on my period. Well, currently the vertical labret doesn't look that great on me because my lip is so BIG, and everything looks disporportioned. Hey, if you want big lips, GET A LIP PIERCING. Aha.
I still haven't figured out how to clean it. It's hard to use a sea salt soak on your mouth. So I have to get tissue and dap the sides. Or gargle my mouth with it [Or Listerine] and then stick my bottom lip inside my mouth. Lip piercings are actually much easier to disenfect, while vertical labrets are just in an awkward placing. And with lip piercings you can get a curved labret jewellery which is made specifically for lip piercings.
At the beginning it's weird feeling a ball inbetween your lips constantly. Also when when you sleep, blood rushes up to your head, and you wake up with custy blood on your lip.
Today when I woke up the area around my piercing [not JUST the inside of my mouth] is a bit darker red, and I'm a tad worried about the placing. But all my piercings have had slight complications, and they don't heal very well, and they bleed a lot.
If possible, I'll come back and edit this when it's on it's way to healing, and post a picture of it healed. So I guess you can see the difference.:
