Now Im just like all of you on here and absolutely adore having pointy bits of metal shoved through my skin. I've had my lip done previously as well as my septum for a day (it was screwed up. Mm working on getting it redone but thats another story.) so I knew what to expect from piercings. Sadly, none of my experiences with piercings in Belleville had been good ones so I didnt really have high hopes for my new hometown. I asked around a LOT before getting anything else pierced and looked up a lot of information on all of the piercings I considered!

I chose Mind Over Matter in Trenton since I was friends with an artist working there and had heard only good things about the piercer from everyone I asked.
My first impression of the shop was great! It was cozy, very down to earth feeling but CLEAN! VERY, VERY CLEAN! The piercer (gregory) made me look through books with photos of all of the piercings he's done before he would pierce anything on me which I thought was brilliant. It was great how comfortable he wanted you to be and his portfolio was actually REALLY impressive. Every piercing looked great and hed done a huge variety of them, basically everything. He also talked me out of having my dimples done (which is what Id actually gone in there to get done) because he pointed out that I have really chubby cheeks for a tiny girl and that the healing process could be terrible. Now, I still want to get my dimples done but for now the monroes have satisfied my craving. It was pretty easy to convince me to change the piercing only because I had been contemplating the monroe for a while and figured Id just move the dimple piercings in a bit and get the double monroe. I would have hated leaving without getting anything done. And yes, I got both done at the same time.
Gregory explained everything about the piercing thoroughly and spent time making sure I was comfortable. He changed the placement of the piercing a few times AND had me look at it and clarify that it was perfect. He actually tells you flat out to be picky. I was pretty happy about that since my septum placement hadnt been marked or clarified with me at all (but again, thats another story).
THIS MAN IS BRILLIANT WITH CLAMPS! I MEAN ABSOLUTELY FREAKING BRILLIANT!!!! He does not wrap elastics around them like most piercers which hurts like NO OTHER! Yet he was ridiculously steady with them and there was no tugging or painful pinching or anything. Seriously, they didnt hurt at all and the clamps are normally what I dread the most. Anyways, so once he had the clamps on he did the normal "take a deep breath" and then he counted to 3 and shoved the first needle through. Now obviously I giggle a little when it was done because Id been psyching myself out when as usual it didnt hurt at all. The needle went through easy-peasy and Gre-Gory threaded the jewellery without a single problem. It was soooooo smooth. He used tiny little needle nose plyers to get a grip on the post and then twisted on the ball without any extra discomfort to me. Seriously, I was amazed at how gentle and smooth he was! After getting the first post on completely he clamped my second lip (just as gently...seriously did NOT hurt!) and positioned the needle. Exact same routine as the last hole and this one hurt a tiny bit but I think it was just because I was psyching myself out again. He got the post in and I giggled again at how easy it was. He told me to check them out and I loved them OBVIOUSLY! He asked if I was lightheaded but I was fine, I've never had a problem with dizziness because of a piercing. They never bother me.
The only problem we encountered was that I have weird, high eye teeth that the posts are rubbing against but in about a week we're going to be able to switch them to shorter, bioplast? (I think thats what its called) posts and then I should have no problem. All in all, it was AN AMAZING experience and I am ridiculously impressed! Granted, there's a fair bit of swelling of my top lip right now and theres the tiny bit of lymph, although the bleeding was practically nonexistant. I would HIGHLY recomend Mind Over Matter to anyone in the Belleville/Trenton region. Ive never, ever had such an easy piercing. I actually got my first ink done about half an hour after this...thats how easy it all was. HAHA!
