Well my first piercing was my nose...So I was not inexperienced going into this piercing. I decided over the weekend that I was ready for a new one. So the following Tuesday me and a friend decided it was time! So we jumped into his car. And went up to Dancing Dragon, I was feeling nervous and kind of...sick.

We got to the parlor I asked the normal questions. How bad does it hurt? "It wont hurt as bad as your nose did, because that is cartilage and this is just soft skin and stuff"

I will come to later find out that he was wrong, very wrong

Sat down in the chair and proceeded to watch him take out all the stuff he needed. I'm really big on cleanliness, so I watched extra careful as to glove changing and hand washing. He marked my upper lip, now by this point I'm ready to get out of the chair and say never-mind. I did the same with my nose ring but he made me sit back down then too!

I looked at placement, asked him to move it a little and there it was a perfect little purple dot. I would have been happy with this. I laid back in the chair got comfortable and tried to relax. Ha...yeah right.

He took out the "tongs" as I call them placed them on my lip wrapped the rubber band around to make it tight this is actually the most uncomfortable part picked up that scary looking needle

By this point I'm sweating bullets nervous as hell and I feel like I'm about to chuck I don't have the highest pain tolerance in the world. But I made it through my nose being pierced he said this wouldn't hurt as bad...Right??

Back to this needle going through my lip...He told me to take a deep breath in followed by a few curse words and a slight yelp of pain I couldn't stop moving...I was very wiggly he had to hold me down haha. By this point the tongs on my lip were KILLING me. The pressure of the tongs was worse than the actual needle going through my lip.

It hurt worse than my nose ring! Yeah, he lied He put my jewelry in and there it was..

I couldn't stand up for awhile I had to lay there I was very dizzy and about to pass out. But once I finally looked in a mirror I was HORRIFIED it was so ugly. I will be honest I hated it. The piercing ball was HUGE it looked like I had a metal growth on my face. I was disgusted!

I got up and walked next door to get ibuprofen while my friend got both his nipples pierced. I couldn't smile. I couldn't hardly talk. I couldn't do much of anything with my mouth. I came back got my care sheet, had everything explained and paid. Left for work. I'm a nanny to a 20 months old toddler.

After work i went to walmart and got Biotene. Over the next 3 days I cleaned it regularly, washed my mouth out in the morning, at night and anytime I ate or drank anything aside from water. My lip started to swell, and hurt worse than actually having it pierced. I was in SSOO much pain I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, I couldn't drink anything that didn't have a straw in it. The back of my stud like on the inside of my mouth was pushing in, like it was to small from the swelling and very raw. I thought it was getting infected so I started rinsing my mouth out more and cleaning it more. I couldn't have been more wrong.

I went back to the piercing parlor to have it looked at. Laid back in the chair, he put his rubber gloves on...Took one look and said "It's not infected it's irritated" Turns out everything I had been doing to keep from getting the infection, I didn't have was making it worse. The mouthwash was to strong. So I went home with my newly found information. Within I would say 4 days it was doing OK, even great. The swelling was gone but it was still very red.

I went back for my one week jewelry change. Had something smaller put in (and MUCH more attractive) It's been about 3 1/2 months now and I have a cute diamond in it. I love, love this piercing. It still gets irritated from time to time. I have to be extra careful not to get make up in it, and make sure I don't get my proactive face wash or anything in it. That tends to make it swell and get really irritated. But other than that it's great! It went from a horrid, huge metal ball To my perfect little diamond Monroe!
