First off, I'll say that I've written one or two experiences on here before and that I've been drooling over BME for the last 3 1/2 years. If this was the first time I was writing an experience, I'd probably start off with how I'd been into body modification since I was little. But since I'm not writing my life story, I thought I'd just get straight into it.

Some of which are usually classed as not painful and "usual" piercings. And others which would probably be labeled as more painful and less usual. Now, I read up on medusa piercings for a month or so before I actually decided to go ahead and get one. So when I had definitely made up my mind I told my mum what I had decided on and asked her nicely if she would come into Vogue and sign the consent form. And because she is such a loving mother, she said yes.
So, the following week we went on into Vogue and she signed the consent form and such. But because I was a poor ass at the time, I needed to wait yet another long week before I went in and actually got the piercing.
Another week or so later, I had my money and I caught a bus into the city. Went into Woolies and bought myself an ice block, which I ate on the way and a bottle of water. When I got to Vogue I was right on time, I had a chat to Lori and Jim as usual and then we went out the back to the piercing room. It took a few tries to get the marking just right because I kept laughing and I couldn't sit still properly. Finally I looked in the mirror and liked the positioning.
It was time for the actual piercing now so I got up on the bench and watched Jim open up the little baggies, fresh out of the autoclave. We decided on a 14ga because I wanted it to look even with my labret stud. Some nice tasting mouthwash, some not too comfortable clamps and various glove changes later it was needle time. I was told to close my eyes and take a deep breath and let it out on the count of three, as the needle went through. I didn't want to shut my eyes, but I did eventually.
I was expecting a bit of pain because most of the experiences on BME said that it was painful. But over time, I've kinda developed a way to block out any pain from the piercings. I just breathe and when I let it out, any pain I have is released. Anyway, on to the actual piercing experience. Like I said, I was expecting pain. But I had never felt this kind of pain before, it was intense and just a completely different kind of pain. It wasn't hurting, it was just this intense feeling that I had. I could feel and hear the needle ripping through every layer of skin. And it's the most odd sensation I've ever felt.
Slightly painful, but odd. It seemed to take a long time, even though it only took a few seconds. All in all it was a really good experience, it bled a little and my lip swelled up immediately. Not really badly, but it was noticable. I payed my $50 and gave my thanks. Got my aftercare and said I'd come back in two weeks to get a downsize. When I left I headed back to Woolies, bought some more cold water - which felt like heaven, let me tell you. And of course I got some Nurofen to relieve any swelling. Nurofen and Advil have got to be the best anti-inflammatories ever.
Now, I've had my medusa in for around about 18months. I changed it from 14ga to 16ga when it was a few months old and I've never had any trouble with it. I can put either a 14ga or 16ga in there without any trouble, but the first time I stretched it back up it did cause some minor pain. Sort of like a little burning sensation, but that disappeared after I drank some cold water.
I'm not going to recommend this to everyone, that's would be kind of ridiculous. But I will give you a piece of advice, if you decide that a medusa is for you, prepare yourself for a different kind of pain experience. And have some Nurofen handy, you'll definitely appreciate that. Thanks to everyone for reading this, I hope it was somewhat informative.
Good luck to everyone with all of your future mods, remember to make informed decisions and go to a professional. Also, don't skimp on price because you only get what you pay for :)
