I've wanted my lip pierced for ever. My mother is totally against eyebrow and lip piercings. On my sixteenth birthday I asked my mom if I could get a piercing she joking said " What could you get now?" I rolled my eyes because my mom figured I couldn't get anything else pierced. I have my cartilage in my ears all done, my nose, my belly and a tattoo for the 15th birthday from my mom. Which is something I never got she'd let me get a million tattoos before I ever got a lip ring or an eyebrow ring.

Anyways I asked her "What about my monroe?" She looked a bit..thought and said " Yeah okay thats cute." I was so relieved I figured once I got a job I'd get my snake bites and bridge (Earl) piercing, no biggy. The reason I didn't just go and get a lip or bridge piercing was because she was paying for it and it was my birthday present. So anyways my boyfriend was all in for getting his nosed pierced and is still 15 so his mom took him at the same time as I got my monroe. Now I really like monroe's on other people and I really didn't think much about that piercing because I didn't think I'd look good in it. Also I never really was in love with the piercing its self.
I got to the shop (Canadian Red Dragon). I had gotten my belly button pierced there 2 years ago. I remember being really tense and nervous. I do that a lot, build up the imagination of having the worse pain imaginable and then the piercing goes pretty smooth. I talked to the lady (I can't remember her name for the life of me right now:( ) She asked which kind of jewelry did I want. Now I liked the ones with fake diamonds in them so I was thinking and looking about 5 minutes later I choose just the regular Labret bar.
So I paid my 60$ first. Now I found that kind of expensive for a piercing I do remember my belly button being 60 but I didn't think monroe's would be. Oh well didn't matter to me my mother was paying anyways. So I talked to my boyfriends mother standing outside the piercing room's door. Just little talking watching the procedure of him getting his nose done. He didn't flinch much and the piercing didn't seem to bother him. I remember getting my nose done when I was 12 and remembering I got mine done with a ear gun. Moving along now, the lady was cleaning the chair and putting on new gloves. Now I had just gotten a tattoo done which was for my last years birthday (15) and I went and sat down when she mentioned to do so and I thought this wont hurt one bit. I remember thinking why should this hurt I just got a tattoo on my spine.
I sat down starting to get nervous. I took a while for her and I to agree on a spot for a monroe. So getting the needle out I got a little tense. Now I hate the clamps because they are pretty hurtful. So clamping down really hard on my skin I felt the needle push through. I never felt the needle ever before on a piercing. This one I could feel it ripping the tissue. It felt more like pressure and like heavy. I remember thinking get the damn jewelry in.
After what seemed like 3 minutes I got up I looked in the mirror and I was pleasantly surprised It look BEAUTIFUL. I loved it. I said my thank you and was off. Now off to the mall the piercing it self didn't seem to hurt and little stingy but nothing unbearable. But the end of the labret post was rubbing on my gums and teeth and that was the worst feeling it was so annoying and just like irritating. I really hated it. The feeling lasted for like 3 hours roughly. I never feel that now. I must advise while you eat during the first 2 days after this piercing make sure you don't open your mouth to wide. I remember getting my post end stuck underneath my teeth and closing my mouth while it was under was pretty darn painful too.I still have the post go underneath my teeth but it's due to the post being really long.
I love my monroe and completely recommend it to everyone.I look forward to more of my project! I plan on getting my bridge within November. I have no problems now, it didn't swell at all and crusted very little. The sea salt is very disgusting as well I truly don't miss that either..Keep it clean and it will be great:). I really enjoy my monroe not a lot of people have it in my city for I feel a bit different then the rest of the people I hang out with. My mom still has no problems with it she finds it very cute.
