I have always loved body piercings, but up until about 3 months ago I have never had any besides the couple regular ear piercings you get at your town Drug Store for 10 dollars on your 8th birthday.

I kept looking around at all kinds of piercings. The one that I looked alot at and thought was the most amazingly different was the vertical labret. I had not seen many of around my area so I began to beg my mom to let me get my vertical labret pierced. Of course she didn't know what that was so I showed her pictures. She said it was cute and said she would think about it.
A few months later I reminded her she was still "thinking about it" and I asked if I could get my lip pierced. She said I could for my 14th birthday which was a few months away.
When my birthday rolled around I got my mom to make me an appointment at Black Rose Tattooing And Piercings because I knew it was very clean, had nice staff, and alot of friends and family had recommended me to go there for all my piercings. So then off went me, my mom and my cousin. My cousin was planning on getting a snakebite but was only going to do one side at a time. She chose her left side. I did not think she was actually going to go through with it though.
When we arrived there was a person getting pierced at the moment so we had to sit and wait. We looked at piercings the shop had done, tattoos, magazines, jewelery and asked about how much it would be for a vertical labret piercing. She said about 75.00 dollars. The wait seemed to take forever though it was only about ten minutes. When we got called up, I told the lady at the counter what me and my cousin had wanted pierced, but she already kinda knew from when i asked the price.(duh) And it turns out she was the piercer. She took us into the private, clean back room. I went first before my cousin. She told me about what was going to happen, showed me the sterilized jewelery she was going to use, and the 14g needle she was going to shove through my lip.
I sat up on the white leather chair and she gave me some mouth wash to shwish for 30 seconds, then spat. She then cleaned the area of my lip, used a purple marker and drew on the dots. She asked me if I liked the placement, and I did. I figured she was the professional one, she knows what she's doing more than I do. So as I waited for her to put the rubber band on the clamps I was getting more and more nervous. She put the clamps where the dots she drew where and told me to exhale, to inhale, exhale, inhale and one last exhale. On the third exhale she drove the needle through my lip. "Wow, that was nothing!" I thought to myself in my head. I felt silly getting all worked up for nothing but a slight pinch. Sheena the piercer put the jewelery in and asked me if I felt light headed at all and I said no. I got up to the mirror to look at my new, vertical labret. I loved it! My cousin was next, as I watched her get her lip pierced I was thinking that if she had gone first I probably would have chickened out! It l ooks worse then it feels!
We walked out of the room and back out into the waiting room where my mom wasn't waiting. She gets sick at even the thought of a piercing, let alone on her daughter. So she waited in the car down the street. We then paid, asked a few questions, of course they were answered in detail by my awesome piercer:) She asked me again if i felt light headed and joked, saying she will probably ask me a hundred times before I leave because of the stairs you have to go up to get to the place.
I had little to no swelling, and barely any pain at all unless I bumped it. The piercer said no drinking alcohol, no kissing, and such, but that night I went to a party, drank a bit, and kissed my boyfriend. The next day it was a little swollen. I cleaned it everyday with salt water and saline solution after I ate and it healed Great!
I would definately get this piercing again and I recommend this to anyone who wants to have an almost painless, very pretty piercing!
