This little story is more of a story in the making. I'm still going through the experience as it only began a week ago. But hey! It's 4:42 am, I just finished a bowl of chocolate chip ice cream, I have 81 minutes before I have to go to work so why not send off another experience.

Boredom and addictions seem in my opinion to be very closely linked. When I got my tattoo done all my friends told me I would become addicted to it and I'd be back for another one. That addiction as it was passed me by. My good friend Mr. piercing though decided to shack up on the couch.

His last two alleviations of my boredom are proving to be quite the interesting healing experience. Two weeks ago I began to get a little bored I worked came home talked to some friends eat showered slept. Rinsed and repeated to put it bluntly and I began to think about getting another piercing but I didn't know what I wanted

All my piercings prior had been such that you could not see unless I removed different articles of clothing. I began to toy around with the idea of getting a visible piercing. But I was trying to think of something a little bit different. Two people at work have their labret pierced and just about everyone has their ears pierced guy or girl, tongue I can't do because I talk on the phone at my job all day and I don't have any time to heal. One morning I'm standing in front of the mirror shaving making those funny little faces you have to make to get a close shave and the idea came to me what if I got my smile pierced?....Now this had merit and possibility I began to look at how my face curled up into little points on each side of my mouth. "Wouldn't it be cool if I had two piercings and they moved when I smiled?....how kick ass would that be." I stood there wondering. But what kind of jewelry did I want now that presented a problem because I really didn't know I just knew I h ate to be like everyone else. Not because I hate everyone most people I know are pretty cool but just because I'm me and my piercings are about me. One of my friends has a black and white talon ear ring not sure the gauge but the idea I liked I wanted to find something along that lines that I could put in each cheek so they would hang down. Visually I really didn't know exactly what I was looking for but I had a good place to start.

Walking to the bus stop after work one day I stopped in a little body jewelry shop on the way and started to peruse the little bit of jewelry they had on display. Much to my surprise I found three beautifully crafted tribal jewelry. They were about 4" long had 14 gauge posts came up about ¼ of an inch and then did a sharp 90 degree bend went down about an inch then bent another 45 degrees and ran out the last almost 3 inches to a nice fine point. They were perfect for what I wanted one of the three didn't match but two made a set I was overjoyed, broke at the time but overjoyed. I asked the nice girl if she could hold the set till Friday when I got paid and she said no problem. I about had a heart attack when she told me they were $80.00 EACH not a pair but we haggled and she agreed to $130.00 for the pair. (Yes I'm poor so sue me) She boxed them up and said I'll see you Friday.

I asked her how much she would charge to put it in. All my piercings are done at the some place and by the same two people I just like to see what others prices are she told me she wouldn't do the piercings because it would mess up the salivary glands and I would not be able to spit anymore. Not a problem I decided to go home do a little research and give Jimmy a call in the morning. After a few failed google searches me and Jeeves found a nice anatomical diagram of a face. Unless I was looking at it wrong my salivary glands were in the back of my mouth and at the front of my teeth next to the gum lines no where near my smile. Having satisfied my own curiosity I grabbed the phone and called Jimmy at work...he wasn't in but one of the guys was happy to answer my questions. Yes they would pierce me but they would have to see the jewelry to see if they could put them in. I told him to let Jimmy know I'd be in Friday evening for the peircings.

Friday came and my friend was kind enough to run me around to pick up my stuff hit the bank cashed the check and headed to the body shop walked in paid for the stuff walked out and headed over to fix her computer for her and kill some time till 5 when jimmy got to work. 5:30 hits and the computer is working again and I'm ready to be dropped off at the beach. My friend drops me off by the piercing shop and I walk in to say hi. Jimmy's working someone so I sit down and relax for a minute. A few minutes later he and I are exchanging heys and he asked to see the set told me flat out the post were too short for the healing process. See that's why the man has done and will do all of my piercings cause he will tell me when something is a stupid idea and not just take my money and do what I ask for. I had of course expected this but it was cool I could wait a little bit to put the ones I bought in. picking out two1/2 inch 14 gauge pieces he told me to relax cause he had a small line to get through.

Of course he waits till I start talking to three cute ladies to come out and ask if I was ready. I hoped up and walked in to the back. One of the girls that worked there about hit me in the nose with the door coming in behind us. She wanted to watch because she had never seen this kind of piercing before.

Sitting on the table Jimmy carefully measured out and placed the dots on each corner of my mouth I checked them in the mirror and with a minor adjustment he had them right where I wanted them. Grabbing the clamps he pulled my left cheek tight pulled one of the hypodermic needles out and punch there goes one side. Now came the problem Jimmy is left handed and it was a funny thing watching him try and pierce the right side of my face. He had to do it off handed so he didn't get the needle through the first poke he had to give it another push and it popped through. Actually felt a little pain on that one but nothing to write home about. Now I'm sitting here with two needles in my mouth and it just felt funny. Grabbing the first of the pair he slide them in the needle and then pulled the needle back out. Clamp and a few tight turn on the ball and it was on to the other side.

That being done I hopped up to look at the work ignoring the line of blood down each side of my face it looked just like I wanted. Sitting me back down I was cleaned up then I tipped my friend grabbed a big ass bottle of Listerine and headed home.

Never having had a facial piercing before I ready the after care instructions carefully 6 weeks to heal and I needed to rinse with salt water and 50/50 Listerine and water at least twice after eating anything. That and clean the outside with ear care solution with a cotton swab. I did all that faithfully. It of course swelled up but a little bit of ice in a bag helped that out about the 3rd night I came to a discovery that kind of ticked me off. I heal way to fast. Almost over night the inside of my mouth had all but closed over the backing of each piece I had to push each one back through not that big of a deal more annoying than anything else. The next morning the same thing so I decided to get creative. I grabbed an old plastic q-tip box thin but hard plastic cut two dime size circles out and drilled holes in the middle then I cut a lit in each to the center. Dosing them first in peroxide then in hot water I managed to pop them between the backing of the posts and the ins ide of my gums felt funny..Really funny but it at least solved the problem of my cheeks closing over my jewelry.

I also found that ice cream as long as I limited the kind I had (nothing hard to chew on) it helped a lot with the swelling, and besides it tastes good too. I took the plastic "guards" out last night and they seem to be healed to the point my cheek won't try and close over them again which is good. I'm kind of hoping they finish healing soon so I can stop rinsing with Listerine I hate the taste. But it's a small price to pay for when it is healed so I'll deal with it in the mean time.

Pretty much as it stands that's where I am right now once it's done and healed I'll be sure to send over a picture for the archives here. Until then or my next 4 am story see everyone later
