When I saw the Vert labret piercing I just knew I wanted to have it. I saw it here on BME and I instantly fell in love!

Throughout the year I've gone with friends to get tons of piercings and I felt it was my turn. When I saw the Vertical labret I knew I had to have it.
At the time I had no cash, so I started to save up. I looked around town to see which shop had the cleanest environment. At each one I asked them questions about the piercing. Some told me that I would go through excruciating pain and others said it was like a little sting (I guess that what they all say huh? ) I finally walked into Universal ( in the process of changing their name to Solid Studio ) and I saw one of the piercers that had the one I wanted!
So I started to talk to him about the pain factor and the usual stuff, so I told him that I'd be back in the next few weeks.
Last week at co-op my supervisor and I were talking about piercings and she wanted her belly button pierced, so we decided on a date and set it.
( the day of the piercing) I went to school in the morning all hyped up about getting this piercing. No one believed me that I was going to get it done because I'm such a wuss for pain, they all thought I'd chicken out. So I went through my morning classes, and finally it was time to go to co-op.
I went off to co-op in the afternoon, and I was highly anticipating 4:00 to come around. Finally 4:00 came and my supervisor and I left for downtown. we parked and walked into universal and filled out the appropriate forms. ( my supervisor chickened out ) So while I was waiting for Jenn to do another piercing I was talking to a guy about his Vertical Labret piercing, I asked him questions on what to expect.
My turn! Jenn led me to the room and started to tell me about the procedure. She started off my marking my lip. First she drew an imaginary line down my face and put a dot ( so she could find the middle of my lip) then she had me smile really big( so she could see how it would move off to the side or something if i smiled) and put another dot. Because I have small lips, she explained that she was going to put the top bead a bit further back than usual because if I ever decided to take it out, the scar wouldn't show. Once she made the dots, she had me look at the places where the dots were and tell her if I wanted it is a different place. She did a perfect job, exactly where I wanted it. Then when she was starting to get the jewlery ready I was starting to get nervous, but she reassured me, and explained what she was doing step by step ( getting the right size jewellery, she showed me the needle coming out of an unopened package..etc..) I grabbed a peice of paper towel to sq ueeze, thinking that it was going to hurt! she put the clamp on ( and yes, the clamp hurts!! ) and she told me to breath, I closed my eyes and in a matter of seconds it was done!
Yes, It did hurt, but not excruciating as some places told me. It's been about 3 hours and the pain is virtually gone. It only really hurts when I press my lips together hard, thats about it. It's really hard to drink out of a glass at this point, but I'm working on it.
It's been 4 days now, and my lip has swollen and gone down. It turned purple! But now it's doing fine. It doesn't hurt so much anymore, and I can eat normally and drink out of a glass! It was hard to get used to, but I can do it better than I could on the first day. People ask me if it's in the way at all, and it really isn't. For the first few days it was, but now I've gotten used to it being there on my lip. I clean the bottom bead with Bactine about 3 times a day ( you can't put it on the top bead, because it " for external use only") and I use Spectro jel on both the top and bottom bead. It's been easy to clean, and no fuss!
I hope this gave you an insight about how the procedure is!
