Well, it was one of those nights. You know, hanging out at a tattoo and piercing shop, then the power goes out, everyone is ready to leave, but it comes back on again. We were discussing what to pierce on me next, and my tattoo, which was itching like hell and I wanted Mike to finish it that second, because I'd rather have the pain than the itching. He laughed at me.

I went for the cheeks, since Lee had never pierced cheeks before, and she wanted them herself. She went to set up. 14ga needles (sterile, obviously), 14ga 7/16" labret posts, original mouthwash of some brand, lube, clamps, paper towels and anything else I forgot to mention. Mike was assisting. A note: The 7/16" labret posts were just there for play, if I would have kept them, we would have used half inch, or 9/16" posts. (After having them done for good, we chose 5/8" as the best length.)
I rinsed with the mouthwash, which is always fun, (especially when you're getting made fun of by Mike and Drew), my cheeks were disinfected and I had to smile and then relax my face, and after a bit, we got the dots right on in my dimples. Lee checked with a flashlight, to avoid anything dangerous, since I believe there is a risk in hitting something important in cheek piercings. Don't quote me on that, but I'd rather be careful than go to the ER with blood spurting from my face. There was absolutely nothing, which made everybody happy. My friend Drew was there, and we kept goofing around, all four of us and whoever else was watching. I couldn't stop laughing, but eventually we calmed down, and after another sexual oriented joke from Drew, we were good to go.
Lee clamped my left cheek first, checked again, and told me to take a deep breath in, and out. She pierced on the breath out, and there was hardly any pain. She apologized for the, "crunch, crunch, pop", but there really wasn't one, and the pain was minimal. Mike took over the clamps and she put the jewelry in. Now, disaster strikes. The bead would not go on. It rolled down my face and I thought the labret stud fell out. Lee hunted for a new one as Mike held the clamps on and him and Drew made fun of me. I had no chance for rebuttal at that point anyways. A good bead was found and put on the stud. After many apologies, we did the second one.
The second one went much more smoothly than the first. A good bead was found for the labret stud, and then Lee pierced it, Mike took over the clamps, the jewelry was inserted. Unfortunately, the 14ga-14ga follow through sucked a bit, since the shops jewelry is just a bit bigger than 14ga. It wasn't that bad and there was very little swelling, or redness. Lee made me show it off for a while. There was no blood. I showed it off, and got teased about my "rosy red cheeks" for a while, as they were fairly swollen, (they swelled almost immediately) then we took them out, which sucked a bit, the threads and all. I was sad, and Lee was sad. I wanted the piercings, but my stupid job won't let me having many facial piercings. So far I pull two off, my 8ga septum, which has a plug, and my labret. Plus a tonne of earrings.
My cheeks bled a bit, but nothing too bad. There was no blood in my mouth, and I said "You can swallow a pint of your own blood before you get sick". Then I said I wasn't bleeding that badly. After a few days, the mild bruising was gone, same with the sores in my mouth, and I missed them. I definitely want my cheeks pierced when I get a job that doesn't care. They looked very nice on me, except the beads were a bit big in the labret studs, so I'd need smaller beads. I'd recommend the piercings. When I talked, the studs didn't catch on my teeth or anything. They look very nice, they don't hurt very much, not even as much as my labret, and I'd imagine they would heal out fairly easily. The next day there was no redness, swelling or bruising from where the piercings were. Just tiny dots which faded to nothing.
Eventually, I did get them done to keep, and they were fairly easy to heal and a fun piercing to have. Other than occasionally biting on the barbells. I'd suggest labret studs for cheek piercings due to biting on them. It's a lot like have a labret piercing.
