I have been into piercings for quite a while now. When I was thirteen I had my septum pierced, the following birthday I had my bridge, months afterward my lip, and finally, my ears. My bridge recently began to reject about 6 months ago, stopping and going. I ended up getting pissed off and took it out. I ended up with phantom limb syndrome and started getting bad headaches the night I took it out. I needed something to fill the gap! I thought about so many things, but one thing always stood out in my mind, holes in my cheeks :) I have one dimple when I smile on the right side of my face, so I thought I'd even it out some.

I friend of mine with a car suggested that we take a run up to Epidart for a while so I can get my cheeks done. He had gone for his tongue, nipple, ear, and a tattoo before. I have been up to the shop twice before for my ears and a change in lip jewelry, (I had all my other piercings done at a different shop, but it was firebombed, I almost cried). After about three weeks of waiting for my friend to get his car, we made an appointment and went up.
When we got to the shop, the first thing that I needed to do was piss, so I did :) We sat with a short wait looking at various albums and tattoo magazines. Bob walked into the waiting room and he asked if my mother had called before giving concent to get this done. Yes I did get my mother to call because I was underage and she is usually the one that takes me to the shop. I said yes and he took me off to the piercing room. I loved the room. The walls are all painted black with some cosmic designs and these paper mache masks glued and painted into the walls, giving the effect that there are faces protruding from the wall. Not to mention that there was an aquarium with a big lizard in it. So it is pretty cool. Again we had the small talk about my former piercer working in another province now, how he (Bob, not the former piercer) had grown his hair since the last time I saw him (he was bald), and Cradle Of Filth. Then the time came to get down and dirty.
The friend that drove me up and another friend came and to see how it's done, and laugh at me. Bob got me to swish some mouthwash around and then he wiped my face with the iodine or whatever it was. He then marked where I wanted to barbells to sit, using my one dimple as a reference point. He was very careful when it came to the placement, evidenting that he knew what he was doing. He then reclined the chair so I was laying down and put the clamps on. They were cold to say the least, no discomfort. He held the needle up to get ready. He asked if I would like him to tell me when he was going to shove or just surprise me. I asked for the surprise :) Then suddenly, I felt a little bit of pressure and my friends were looking at me like I had a penis growing out of my face. I realized the deed had been done when he went to get the barbell. It was very nice to say the most. The other cheek went relatively the same except for the fact that he had to kind of come in from the top of my head so I would have been looking at his neck rather than his forehead, watching his madison dangle over me.
They felt great :) the right side was a little bit bloody, but other than that, it was awesome. I swished some mouthwash again and had a little chit - chat with Bob. He is a really nice guy and does awesome work. We walked back to the waiting room, I bought some 00g tunnels, paid him, and made sure to tip him. Remember to always tip the artist!!!
So far I have not had any problems with my cheeks (except for a few dirty looks), though it has been only about 55.5 hours since I had them done. My cheeks swelled some, enough to be noticeable, which isn't too bad. I have been poppin Advil into me whenever the swelling gets a little bit uncomfortable and have been sucking on ice cubes forever! I suggest to anybody who wants to get this body mod to check out your studio, your piercer, and make sure he/she pierces with barbells of efficient lengths. Mine are 1/2 inch and feel great ;)
