The eyebrow piercing for me was done on a whim, I liked the way it looked so what the heck. I went into my local piercing parlor one Sunday to get my tongue barbell downsized when I asked my piercer to tell me more about the eyebrow. She proceeds to explain to me what to expect, what it's like, and the whole science behind it. Well, all this did was get me more and more excited about getting it. Then I figured, well I am already here so why not. Plus I'll have something new to show off once I get back to my college campus! I decided to go ahead and get it.
At A Glance Author Queen Lauren Contact geminijune9@hotmail.com When A month ago Studio Ambrotos Tattoos and Piercings Location Silver Spring, Maryland, USA I wasn't too nervous because previously I got my tongue pierced a month ago and found that it didn't hurt at all and the tongue is a lot thicker than the eyebrow. And on top of that my piercer really new what she was doing and talked with me through the procedure and made sure I was very comfortable.
After paying $55 for it, I walked back to the piercing station and laid down on a doctor-style bed. The piercer prepared her utensils while I laid there listen to "99 Luft Balloons" playing in the background. Great song. Certainly makes you feel happy no matter what is about to happen! My piercer then pinched around my eyebrow to find a good spot to pierce, a place that is not too thick not too thin. Once she found the perfect spot (and I agree it was a perfect spot) she then clamped it with a small clamp, which didn't hurt at all. Some people think the clamp hurts more than the piercing but I totally didn't think it hurt at all. You certainly feel it but that's about it.
Once I was all clamped, here comes the lovely needle. Well, it went through my skin and that's it! No pain. I was lying there while my piercer did the whole drill: talked to me, told me to breathe in and out, etc. There was no need to because there was no pain. Now, everyone is different. Some have a high tolerance for pain, some don't, and some love the feeling of pain. I am somewhere in the middle. I don't like pain and I certainly don't love the feeling. I just didn't find any pain involved. Yes you feel it and you feel the needle go through but seriously, that's it.
When it was all done I got up and looked in the mirror. Wow. It was so awesome. I just love the look of it. My eyebrows were arched and my skin was clear and the piercing just enhanced my whole face. My piercer was standing their beaming and said over and over how well it looked on me. She even went and got a co-worker and he was impressed. I felt great. Once I was done, my piercer gave me a bag of salt and told me to do salt soaks everyday. Then she gave me a sheet of paper with aftercare instructions and explained everything in detail. Before I left she noted that she was responsible for my piercing. That made me feel really good.
The healing process was a breeze compared to my lobes and tongue. In the very beginning there will be soreness for the first week and when I say soreness I mean it is very minimal. You probably won't have any soreness unless you touch it. It took me roughly 3 weeks for my piercing to heal and the soreness to disappear completely. During this time make sure you are aware of your piercing during your morning routine of combing your hair, pulling a shirt over your head, etc because you can easily forget and, well, snag and that is no fun. Accidental snagging can hurt more then the piercing itself depending on how hard you snag. Also the salt soaks are important. They really help. During the summertime when it's humid and hot, make sure that the eyebrow doesn't get too sweaty because the sweat and dirt will interfere with the healing of your piercing. Try and keep that area as clean as possible. However, once healed you'll be fine and it doesn't take too long to heal. To do a comparison, the eyebrow may take a week more than the tongue.
I absolutely love my eyebrow piercing; it has been the best piercing I've gotten (so far!). It enhances your face and makes your eyes stand out. I receive compliments on it all the time... along with the usual question, "Did that hurt?" I also have a job and work at an International Affairs Center and the piercing is very visual and has not affected my job/career in any fashion. I highly recommend this piercing and if you are scared or nervous, don't be. I can't stress enough that is doesn't hurt.
