I will be describing the experience of getting my eyebrow pierced and the healing process that it goes through afterwards. I have two holes in my earlobes, one in the cartilage, my eyebrow, and my tongue pierced. The tongue piercing was by far the most painful, and was also the hardest healing process. Getting my eyebrow pierced was a piece of cake! I had it pierced around two years ago, and it just seems like a part of my face because I've had it so long. Sometimes people say "Did that hurt?" and I have to think for a second what they are talking about, because like I said, it's just a part of my face now so I don't even think about it. If you are considering an eyebrow piercing but are wondering about the pain factor, in my opinion it hurt less than getting my ears pierced, but everyone's experience is different.

Looking back on my eyebrow piercing experience, I realize what an easy and wonderful experience it truly was! One of the things that made it such a positive experience was the talented, knowledgeable, wonderful people at the Purple Scorpion. They are so kind and informative, and the place is very clean. I highly recommend that no matter where you go for your piercing, be sure you feel comfortable with both the atmosphere and person piercing you.

Looking back, it was such an easy process. The peircer walked me through exactly what was going to happen. He was very nice, and told me that if he was going to fast or if I didn't understand something, I could stop him and ask. He showed me that everything was in their original packages, so I was assured of their sterility. He wiped down the area with alcohol or some kind of disinfectant. Then he put the clamp on my eyebrow, which, to be honest, was more uncomfortable than the piercing itself! The clamp just pinches a little, but that is how truly painless an eyebrow piercing really is. He put the needle through, and then put the ring in. I can honestly say that it really didn't hurt. I felt the needle go through, but it was in no way unbearable. It was very simple, and I actually think it hurt a lot less than having my ears pierced! I remember holding my friend's hand, preparing myself for a lot of pain. Needless to say, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the minimal amount of pain! The piercer instructed me to go out and buy Dial soap, Bactine, and Neosporin. Keeping up with the piercing while it healed was very easy. You just have to wash it with the Dial soap, rinse it well, and use the Bactine and Neosporin on it. When you put the Bactine on, you have to turn the piercing to make sure you get the Bactine inside the piercing, and you have to do the same thing with the Neosporin, to make sure it heals properly. Another thing the piercer told me to do, which I wouldn't have thought of, is to put a clean pillowcase on your pillows so you do not get any bacteria from your pillowcases into the piercing. Also, try not to play with the fresh piercing with dirty hands – its good to twist the hoops, but best to do that when you are washing it, because the suds of the soap helps it turn easier without any friction.

I remember being overly concerned during the healing process when I really didn't need to be. As long as you follow the instructions that the piercer gives you, you should be all set. Don't hesitate to go in and ask the piercer if you are concerned that it may be infected or if you have any questions about the healing process. I remember being very concerned that it would get infected if I accidentally touched it, but it never got infected. In fact, it healed quickly and beautifully! I am very happy with the experience, but most importantly with the piercing itself.

If you are worried about how much a piercing is going to hurt, I think one of the best things you can do is prepare for it to hurt a lot. I went to the piercing studio thinking it was going to hurt a lot to have my eyebrow pierced, and I was pleasantly surprised, as I mentioned before. I think its better to be pleasantly surprised by it hurting less, than it is to be startled and taken by surprise by more pain than you were prepared for. When I got my tongue pierced, I prepared for the worst, and although I wasn't pleasantly surprised – it *really* hurt – at least I was ready for a great deal of pain. With the eyebrow piercing, I was ready for a lot of pain, and was so happy when it just felt like a slight pin prick. In my opinion, an eyebrow piercing is very very low on the pain scale. On a scale of 1-10, I really would give it a 1.

If you are considering an eyebrow piercing, find a clean piercing studio, and be prepared to keep your new piercing clean and well taken care of. Then watch it heal, and enjoy your new addition!
