Last year 3 friends & I trekked an hour to Fine Line Tattoo in Topeka, KS to get body mods done. We were going on a trip a few weeks later, & we wanted to do something special to commemorate the occasion. I was getting my eyebrow done, & my friends were getting 1. lip, 2. labret, & 3. a first tattoo. It was a busy day at the studio, so we had to wait around for a bit. My friend got started with her tat, & the 3 that were getting pierced had to miss out on watching the entire process of our friend getting inked. I'll just focus on my own story though.
At A Glance Author AnnieB Contact total_id@yahoo.com When A year ago Artist not sure Studio Fine Line Location Topeka, KS I had wanted my eyebrow pierced for a couple years prior to actually getting it done, but I always felt I was too old. You always saw kids of 18 getting it done, but not 25 year olds. Well, I figured it was now or never. I didn't want to be 35 & regret not ever getting it done. This was my first non-ear piercing, so I was a bit nervous. Fine Line is a very reputable studio which employs only but the best professional tattoo artists & piercers, & is beyond sterile, so this eased my worries quite a bit. I was the second one in our group to get pierced & I was just ready to get it over with. The piercer sat me down in the nice big comfy chair & was explaining to me what the aftercare entailed, as she got everything ready for the piercing. I selected my jewelry (16g light blue metallic cbr) & she dotted the entry & exit places, had me verify it was what I wanted, & off she went. Now, my friends who had had their eyebrows pierced had told me it doesn't hurt at all. So I wasn't really expecting the pain involved. Granted, it simply felt exactly like what it was...a sliver of metal cutting through my skin. But, it was more than I was expecting. After it was over, she held up the mirror & I LOVED what I saw. It looked great on me! All 4 of us were so happy with what we got that day. It was a great experience. I had a lot of fun calling up friends of mine that I had not seen in a while & telling them I finally got my eyebrow pierced. Many of my friends didn't even believe me! I had a blast showing it off.
The piercing healed nicely. I only changed the actual barbell a couple times while I had it, but I replaced the balls several times, depending on my mood or what I was wearing. That was the most frustrating thing, getting the balls on & off. I could never remember which way to twist them, & even matching them up w/ the threading was such a pain. A hint: it actually helped to NOT look in the mirror as I was replacing the balls. The mirror just confused me. Regardless of the frustration, I still thought my piercing was worth it, though.
Now, I had heard plenty of stories about eyebrow rings migrating, & even 6 months later my piercing looked as great as the day I got it, so I assumed I was going to be one of the lucky ones. However, after the 6 month mark, I did notice that for some reason the barbell seemed to have more slack than I once thought it did. That's when I noticed a little red line beside the top hole. It had migrated a bit :(. It gradually kept migrating, & I eventually put in a shorter barbell, but a couple months after I put the shorter barbell in I had to take it all the way out because there was hardly any skin keeping the piercing in. This was about 3 weeks ago. I miss my eyebrow piercing terribly. To make matters worse, my friends that got pierced that day still have their piercings, which look perfect still. Granted, you don't hear too much about lip & labret piercings rejecting. Anyway, if my holes end up healing completely so no evidence of them being pierced is left, I may end up getting the opposite side pierced. I loved my piercing while it lasted. I also had my navel pierced, & that actually rejected completely w/in about 4 months. My next piercing adventure is going to be my left nipple, which I am getting done this weekend. My friend who got her labret pierced is coming with me & getting a new tat. We keep joking that this is going to become a tradition, because it was literally a year ago almost to the day that we got our piercings. Wish me luck with my nipple!
