I only recently started wanting my bridge pierced. Then I started looking at pictures on bme, and decided that I really wanted it pierced. Having a bigger nose led me astray from my septum, so I needed something different. So I went to Electric Chair to get it done. This was two weeks ago. First of all, just let me say, Electric Chair is my favorite tattoo shop. It's the only one I'll go to. The staff is extremely friendly, the shop is very clean, and they do wonderful tattoos and piercings. There is a fairly new piercer there, Jill, and I don't think she's ever pierced me before. But since it's Electric Chair, I figured everyone there is as close to perfect as they come.

She asked me what size I wanted, I picked the bigger.. I think it may have been a 14. She made a couple dots, and I didn't bother to look at if they were straight because I figured she knew what she was doing. She then did the usual opening of the jewelry and cleaning procedures. She had me lie down, which I found a bit weird, but did so anyway because I badly wanted my bridge pierced. She put one leg up on the table, and put the clamps on my nose, positioned the needle.. and I breathed in and on out she pushed it through. And no, it didn't hurt. I expected it to hurt a lot, or at LEAST a little bit.. but no pain. And then she slid the jewelry in, and kind of made a weird face and said the words I had dreaded all along- "it might be kind of crooked, or maybe it's just me because I pierced it." So I looked in the mirror, and decided it was a teeny bit but thought if I worked with it, it might straighten out.. and plus I had just gotten my bridge pierced, and that was the main goal.
After leaving, I stopped at my best friend's house, and although she said it suited my face well, she asked if I knew it was crooked. So I left, and my parents said it didn't look that crooked at all. So I thought I might be able to pull it off.. but the next day, while hanging out with a bunch of people, one person randomly said "I like it pierced, but it's really crooked." And that was the deciding point for me. I took it out later that night, and left it out for about two weeks. I was at Taco Bell one day for lunch, and my usual piercer Jeremy walked in, and we were talking, and I told him what happened. And he naturally said I could come in and get it redone, no problem, and that I should never have let her do it. So I went two days ago to get it redone, and he was AWESOME. He has pierced me before, so it's no big deal, but the before and after was absolutely amazing.
I went in and had to resign the papers and stuff, then we went back into the piercing room. He got all of the stuff out, and made some dots on my nose. But before he was satisfied, he used a toothpick to make sure they were aligned with the center of my nose and my eyebrows and everything. Then he had me look so I could make sure I liked them, and I thought they were too high for my liking, so he did it all over again, and then they were pretty good. I thought it looked too far over to one side, but him and everyone else all said to leave it. So I trusted them and left it alone. He decided to put a curved barbell in, because it can move easier, and has less chance of rejection. Then he had me stay sitting, and put the clamps on and got the needle positioned, and I breathed in and the next thing I knew it was through. Then the jewelry and it was all over with. Cleaning is the usual.. anti bacterial soap a couple times a day and sea salts. I am SO glad I had it redone. And people like Jeremy really make me appreciate the art of piercing. It's just meant for some people and not for others.
And another thing, people say that piercing over scar tissue hurts a lot.. well when I got mine re-pierced, it didn't hurt anymore than the first time. He did warn me about some blood, and it started trickling down my nose, but other than that I had no problems whatsoever. It's been two days and so far so good. I wear contacts, but when I do wear glasses it's kind of a pain, so I would recommend checking the position if you wear glasses all of the time, and I've bumped it a couple times but that's no big deal. Happy piercings!
