I've got 28 piercings as of right now, but I've had over 50 holes poked throughout my body in the last 20 years. I think I've pretty much had every piercing that's possible, minus the cheeks, smiley or anything like splitting, etc...The one regular piercing I knew I would NEVER even consider getting was the eyebrow, until 2 days ago when I saw the horizontal eyebrow piercing on this site. It was beautiful...
At A Glance Author Kate Contact Kate@bme.anon When It just happened Artist Adam I was going to drive into Vegas (about a 45 min. drive from here) but it was too rainy, so I decided to go to ******** and get some piercings taken out.. I've had both my tragus' pierced for about 3 years and I can't remember them ever not being irritated. I clean them, I vitamin them, I H2Ocean spray them (that stuff was made by a genius btw) and yet they still don't want to cooperate. My conch was also kind of pissed off lately. And then my nose, I've had that for about 3 years as well, the last few weeks it's been acting up- and I decided yesterday to get rid of any piercing that's ever caused me problems. I've easily spent more money trying to fix those guys, than I did to get them pierced in the first place. But before I went down there I decided to go on BME first to see if there were any piercings added lately that looked interesting. I wanted a lip ring, but I've already got a monroe, so I thought that might be too clashy- so I dabbled around in the other sections until I saw the horizontal eyebrow and I knew I had to have it. I called down to ******** to see if Adam was in, and asked him if he could do a horizontal eyebrow & he said sure. So my sister and I drove down there, and he told me he had never done one before, but that he knew he could do it. Made me a little queezy knowing I'd be his first, but at the same time I was ecstatic about it because I hate when other people in this town have the same piercings I've got.
I always work myself up right before a piercing, thinking that it's going to hurt real bad-- that way when it gets right down to it, the clamp is actually the worst part.
And it probably didn't help me out any that I had to wait until my jewelry was sterile, giving me about 45 min. to re-think my newfound holes, or that my sister went before I did and I watched her stretch her ears from an 18g to a 10g... kind of made my knees wabbley and my stomach churn, and when the air filled with her lovely "Oh F***'s", that didn't make me too eager to sit down next either.
I talked to Adam a little bit, asking him about things I hadn't looked up on the site as far as what the percentage was of people who's eyebrow rings grew out, or if having it horizontal would make that percentage greater for me, and if there were any vital nerves or anything in that area that could make me blind or something.. you know... that kind of stuff.
My turn! I sat down in the chair, and he marked me with the pen where he thought it would look best, and I agreed. I really had no idea where the bar should go, but he said it was all personal preference- and I was just positive that the only place I didn't want it, was above my eyebrow.
So we agreed on a placement, and he asked me if I was ready, and I said "no".. then he asked me if I was ready again, and I said "no".. and then a third time, he asked me if I was ready, and I was. So he clamped it, which hurt real bad in the area on me for some reason, and told me to breathe in (btw, I hate when piercers count "1, 2, 3") and then to breathe out... and I honestly didn't even know he was finished until I felt him remove the clamps and step back from me. It was virtually painless, not counting those damned clamps.
And I was done! I looked in the mirror, and was undecided on whether or not I could pull it off. That's usually my reaction. Most of the time I kind of dislike my new mod., and then I'm undecided, and then I like it, and then eventually I can't picture myself never having had it.
Either way, Adam did a fantastic job for his first time- but hopefully no one around here will ever make him do it a second.
