OK I have interested in Body modification ever since I had my ears pierced. I went through the usual stages of having 3 holes in each lobe and having the cartilage pierced and then a belly button bar but doesn't everybody!

When Six months ago Artist Charlie Studio Sunderland Body Art Location Sunderland Anyway I was surfing the net one day and came across eyebrow piercing and after a few hours of research I decided that it was the piercing for me. As I was only 15 at the time I had to face the only thing standing in the way of my beloved eyebrow piercing – my mother! I got the usual "You're so pretty you'll spoil your face" or "Nobody will ever employ you!" As I was only fifteen getting a job was the last thing on my mind.
So my plan was every time a celebrity came on the TV like Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas or Amy Lee out of evanescence I would ask my Mam if she thought they were pretty and work my angle from there alas it didn't work, so I resorted to shouting and screaming combined with the ignoring but still no eyebrow piercing.
I decided to get a magnetic ring thing to show my Mam how it wouldn't wreck my face but after I bought it I realised what an idiot I looked! It got me really depressed then one day, Monday to be precise after I had sat my GCSEs and had my sixteenth birthday my Mam was like you still want your eyebrow pierced cos if you do you'll have to pay for it!
I was shocked at first but then dragged my Mam down town to a highly recommended place 'Sunderland Body Art', granted when you first enter you must go up some stairs which are dark and the walls are covered in gothic artwork which was a bit of a put me off but once you go through the door you are greeted by a clean, spacious reception – I walked nervously towards the counter and saw a women who introduced herself as Jo, the main tattooist. She told me that it is now ok to pierce someone who is under eighteen with a cosmetic piercing (Face, ears, bellybutton) since I was sixteen I didn't have to bring my Mam but I'm glad I did it for moral support! Jo also asked if I had eaten, or taken prescription/illegal drugs or consumed alcohol before I came, the only yes answer was for the first question and the rest no.
Anyway I got a form to fill in which was a bit like a contract detailing how old I was, what I wanted doing and that I knew what I was doing and you probably know the rest! I paid the £30, not necessarily the cheapest quote I got, but after researching on BME I realised you get what you pay for, as I waited for my turn with Charlie I sat anxiously in the waiting area flicking through tattoo magazines cos I wanna get inked when I'm eighteen, my Mam also felt at ease although still trying to talk me out of it, are you sure etc.
Well after about fifteen minutes Charlie can down and greeted me, he was really friendly from the start and immediately half my nervousness was gone. Before he even took me to the piercing room he made sure Me and my Mam saw the sterilizing room, it was spotless and he made sure we understood the procedure fully (he thought my Mam should be involved to). He washed his hands and placed on some black disposable rubber gloves, he then made sure he opened the sterile needle and jewelry packets in front of us 9i opted for a thicker bar like what guys have because I thought about it migrating). Ok, the tension was once again building and I thought I was going to throw up but luckily I had eaten an hour beforehand so I knew I was going to be fine. Then came the moment I had been looking forward too, the adrenaline pumped through me I was imagining how it would look, I began to lay down forgetting Charlie would want to mark the spot first, he positioned it right the first time as I looked into the mirror I thought bye old face, expecting myself to look totally different.
As I lay down Charlie made some jokes about eyebrow piercing saying that I can't remember, here came the clamps which are definitely the worst part of the piercing for me, I closed my eyes expecting a stinging sensation but I was definitely disappointed when he said done, I hadn't felt a thing – I leapt to get up and look but he told me to stay put for a while until my adrenaline had stopped rushing.
It was not sore but uncomfortable for a few days afterwards and sleeping was the worst as I had always slept on the left side of my face! I cleaned it with sea salt and water like Charlie suggested he also told me less is more, basically clean it like everyday but if you go in the shower just rinse it. This advice worked for me but you must find a cleaning routine suitable to you as every piercee's skin is different and so are their healing times!
Well six months on and I'm now at college with my little eyebrow bar which I absolutely love, but beginning to get bored with it which is why I might now wait before I get that tattoo, I am now going to go get my lip pierced on Friday the seventeenth of December this way it can have two weeks rest before I got back to college.
I would really recommend getting your eyebrow done but make sure you do your research! But by reading this you probably are – Good Luck!-
