Well this is the "story" of my eyebrow piercing!
At A Glance Author CupOfTea Contact CupOfTea@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist Tony Studio Tony's Piercing Location Surrey I have always been really interested in Body "Modification" since I was a teenager but never really got anything done except my ears (lobes 3 times) and my cartilage which was done with a gun eeeeekkk!!
When I got to 20 (not sure why it had taken me so long) and after years of wanting I finally got a (rather large) tattoo on my right arm and a few more since then but I still had a yearning for piercing!!
I always fancied having my eyebrow done, which, I think looked really "unusual" and outstanding on others I knew. I also really wanted something that would draw attention to my eyes, which I have always been complemented on.
So at the "grand old" age of 27 I finally plucked up the courage to go for it! I spent quite a lot of time researching and reading other experiences, which I found really useful, the good and the bad!
So one Friday afternoon I thought today's the day!! I had already checked with work that it would be ok to have it done and all was fine no problems at all!!
I had decided that I had to go on my own - if anyone came with me they would just work me up and get me more nervous!
So I left work early - luckily where I live you can just walk straight in and get pierced. The piercing studio has been there for years and Tony pierced my ears when I was about 15!
So I felt kind of commutable! That was until I walked in and realised that another guy had taken over the piercing and I didn't really know him.
He asked me to fill in the necessary forms and asked if I had any allergies or was taking and medications. To sign their medical book, and put my date of birth and name and address.
In all honestly he was great - hardly any "bedside manner" but I was amazed that this actually made me feel more at ease than anything else because he was so laid back about it was no big deal!
He then asked me to choose what jewellery I wanted, friends of mine had told me that it is good to start off with a ring, because it would be easier to clean in the healing process. He asked if I had any bad reactions to any metal and I said no. And he asked me to choose the ring I wanted - I just chose a standard metal.
And he led me into the piercing room and said for me lie on the big dentist type couch. I was so nervous at this point sweating and everything!! (Not pleasant!) So I did say to him I'm so nervous and he was like "well we use anaesthetic you wont feel a thing - Just make sure you don't open your eyes until I tell you!"
So I closed my eyes!
He then sprayed the anaesthetic spray on my eyebrow and he held a tissue underneath it for about 30 seconds and prepared the equipment.
He then pinched my eyebrow (I expected him to use clamps but he didn't) and I thought Oh My God this is it what am I doing Agghhh!!
I so wanted to open my eyes but I just knew I shouldn't and couldn't an invisible force was holding them shut!
And then amazing, the needle through the skin, that's when I finally relaxed and realised that I was actually enjoying the experience.
He told me not to open my eyes again as he was getting the ring ready to put in - I still don't really have any idea how they do that part (maybe I need to do some more reading!)
He clamped the ring shut and that was it me done!!
I was so expecting to feel feint after - but I felt fantastic! I jumped of the couch and straight over to the mirror to look - it was just as I wanted - although standing up a bit - the guy said this was as it had just been done and it will "relax" (which it did)
He took me through the aftercare instructions and gave me some solution to use on my eyebrow. I was quite worried, as I had heard some horror stories about eyebrow piercing being infected.
I left the shop and went and had a beer!
I was lucky my eyebrow was a dream, I used antibacterial soap and salt-water rinses and my eyebrow just about healed in two weeks I than changed to a bar.
My advice is if you want your eyebrow pierced DO IT! I worked myself up over nothing and found out that I really enjoyed the experience! Just make sure you follow after care instructions and don't open your eyes!!!
I'm off to get my tongue pierced now - hopefully it will be just as an enjoyable experience!
